Reality Fighters is one of the launch titles for the PS Vita meant to show off the AR capabilities of the little console. Plus it’s also, you know, a fighting game. The prime question is, however: is it fun? Let’s punch through this review to find out.
The Wipeout series of video games (nothing in common with the Wipeout TV series!) has always been one of the games for Sony consoles that show off what insane graphical power the machine is capable of, and the PS Vita is, to use the hackneyed term, “no different” with its release title, Wipeout 2048. Whether it is carving, jumping, grinding or flying, SSX has it all. From the word go, I am going to say this game is amazing! Being EA’s first next-gen offering of the franchise, the game does not disappoint. The graphics are great, the locations detailed, and it’s very tricky in parts. And the tricks? There are few things more awesome than controlling demonic tentacle arms with murderous intent, accompanied by a dwarf-sized gargoyle sidekick who wears the union jack like a dress and has a cockney accent to match. Unless of course said tentacles come with a disturbed inner voice and a mind of their own. The Darkness II offers you all of this, in a familiar yet unique presentation. Lord of the Rings: War in the North is a co-op action RPG in that takes place in J.R.R. Tolkien’s famed fantasy universe, and details the events that occur around The Lord of the Rings, but which doesn’t actually include many of the actual written events from the story. The game follows the style of the films, but also includes many settings and characters from the book. Personally, I love The Lord of the Rings series. I make a point of reading the entire series through at least once every two years or so. But those are the books. The question is: does this game capture the essence of The Lord of the Rings? Or is it best consigned to the Cracks of Doom? Let’s find out.
