If you’ve not heard of Puzzle and Dragons before, odds are you don’t play many match-three style games on Android or iOS devices. The game is insanely huge, especially in Asian markets, and now the game is coming to Nintendo 3DS, along with a new Super Mario Bros. mode. I got a chance to review the bundle, so let’s dive in.
Of all the highly anticipated titles this year, Super Smash Bros. has got to be somewhere near the top of the list. For the uninitiated, it’s a sprawling beat-em-up featuring a host of Nintendo’s greatest and toughest characters (and a few borrowed from …here and there, amongst other places). It’s a fabulous roster of fighting, and the 3DS version is upon us. I put on my fighting words and take the knocks to bring you this *knockout* review.
Created by and starring Andrew McMurry, Retro Warfare is a funny little short that has our real life hero fighting off enemies from classic video games. Does McMurry make it to the end of the level or does the game have the last laugh? Find out below.
McMurry has shot other films including real life games of Metal Slug and Super Mario Bros., and in another, show how a minecrafter would deal with a zombie attack. See those short films after the jump.
King Koopa is at his wit’s end. Despite having an almost unlimited supply of Goombas, tanks, naval vessels, and an air force, it seems that ridding the Mushroom Kingdom of a pudgy plumber has proved more difficult than planned. The great Koopa has now turned to the power of advertising to gain more support for his cause.
In a set of emotionally-charged propaganda posters, Bowser asks the question, “The Koopa are fighting. Why aren’t you?” and calls for residents of Mushroom Kingdom to join the great Koopa cause. See the set of posters after the jump.

Freddie’s back with another smashing video, this time with another staple of the gaming world. Together with animator buddy Brandon Laatsch, the duo shows what Super Mario Bros. world 1-1 would look like if it were an FPS title, complete with a mini-map and blood-splattered achievements. In the style of Super Mario Bros and Mega Man, our hero wants to get his “game on” but his princess will not let him into her castle without the prerequisite special item. This video follows his attempts to procure said item. See how it turns out below.

When I was growing up all the cool kids had a Sega Mega Drive. I had a pithy Sega Master System. I never had a NES or an SNES and had to listen to my friends regaling their stories of derring-do in the Mushroom Kindgom. Bastards.
Super Mario Bros. is one of Nintendo’s most popular games seeing over 40 million copies sold since its release on the NES in 1985. That makes it the second-most best-selling video game in the world (Wii Sports hold top spot). It’s been re-released a number of times and spawned quite a few sequels. You can even play it from the comfort of your web browser, and this brings us to a Jay Pavlina’s tribute to the classic side-scroller.
Super Mario Bros. Crossover is a flash game that recreates the original 8-bit world of the Mushroom kingdom, but adds a whole new level of fun by letting you play as other Nintendo characters. Currently you can choose between Mario, Samus, Mega Man, Simon Belmont, Bill R., Link, and my favourite the bad-ass ninja Ryu Hayabusa. How awesome it that? But wait there’s more – each character plays as they would do in their own game, so Bill can shoot Goombas in the face and Ryu can climb walls and throw deadly shurikens.

Maths can be extremely difficult at times, but not in this instance. What happens when you take the classic platformer Super Mario Bros and add the block-dropping puzzler Tetris to it? Simple – you get Tuper Tario Tros.
In Tuper Tario Tros, world 1-1 starts off as one would expect, but soon Mario comes across obstacles that seem insurmountable. What to do then? Summon the powers of Tetris and build a path that Mario can safely traverse. Use the arrow keys to move, X to jump, and the Space bar to switch between Mario mode and Tetris mode.
