Website Model Involuntarily Pumps Up the Jam

25 years ago, the World Wide Web didn’t exist. For all the good (and bad) it has brought we owe a its inventor—Tim Berners-Lee—the biggest of pats on the back. Good job, Tim. If you’d like to find out how it all began, check out Wikipedia, read this news article, or even watch this YouTube video.

But you’re not here for that, no siree. Hit the jump to view a 30-second clip of a website model involuntarily dancing to Technotronic’s Pump Up the Jam.

People Are Awesome 2013

If there’s anything for making you feel well and decently inadequate, then it’s watching videos of people doing awesome things. Let’s get you feeling properly down by showing almost five minutes of loads of people doing amazing stuff, shall we? The video was uploaded by a band member of the group Hadouken, so naturally the it features a track of theirs as well, called “Levitate”. The music is awesome, the people are awesome, and they can all do things you can’t. Feel good, now?

Reddit’s Guide to Fitness

Even the foolhardiest of drunks must be awake by now. Hello, and welcome to 2012! Allow me to wish you a very happy new year! Here’s hoping all the best for your life, love, gaming, and everything else in between.

Of all the new year resolutions that have been drafted, I can imagine “getting healthy” is on many a list. You might not think it but Reddit is a bountiful source of information for the individual who wants to lose the flab and get fitter.

The people over at The Greatist have collected tips and tricks from the Fittit subreddit (/r/fitness) and created a handy infographic to help those who want to go from fat (or skinny) to fit. Have a look at Reddit’s Guide to Fitness after the jump.

Loose Tweets Sink Fleets: Brian Moore’s WWIII Propaganda Posters

If you enjoyed Cliff Chiang’s set of WWII propaganda posters for the Star Wars universe, you make like designer Brian Moore’s latest project. Moore takes propaganda posters created during World War II and modifies them to be more relevant to this day and age.

The old “Loose lips sink ships” poster created by the War Advertising Council warned of “unguarded talk” and Moore’s updated one similarly tells us that a careless tweet can indeed sink a fleet. Moore also warns of the dangers of blogging, and the roles of Reddit and Wikipedia in the war effort. Have a look at his fantastic WWIII propaganda posters after the jump.

Reddit Meets Tom Swifty

I love puns. In my ever-so-humble opinion, a well-formed pun can be regarded as one of the highest, most fantastically funny forms of wit. A very specific, reasonably old subset of puns, called the Tom Swifty, has made a funny resurgence at Reddit. Some of the funniest ones in the thread include the thread title:

“I think I have split personalities,” said Steve, being frank.

And a few more:

  • “I ALREADY TOLD YOU. I’M NOT DROWNING!!!” said Tom, deep in denial.
  • “I lost my bouquet,” said Tom lackadaisically.
  • “I manufacture table tops,” said Tom counterproductively.
  • “They had to amputate them both at the ankles,” said Tom, defeated.
  • “I think I might be gay,” said Tom, half in earnest.
  • “They escorted the criminals downstairs,” Tom said condescendingly.
  • “I don’t rub my feet on the carpet anymore,” Tom said ecstatically.
  • “Please help! My left ventricle is collapsing,” said Tom halfheartedly.
  • “Who discovered radium?” asked Marie curiously.

See the full thread on Reddit. There are just way too many to list! Here’s my own little contribution:

“I just said something about this blog post,” Tom commented.

How Much Power is in an AA Battery? And Can it Kill?

One person on Reddit wanted to know if you manage to drain all the energy from a single AA battery in a single go, and translate that energy to a punch, what kind of damage would the punch leave. The answer may surprise you. Check it out after the jump.
