Back in 2010, we reviewed the original Darksiders for Playstation 3. You can read our review here, but the basic gist was that it was a decent game worth your time and money. This being 2016, the year of the remaster, we naturally have Darksiders: Warmastered, because of course we do. This review is going to be covering the PS4 version specifically.

We Review: Battlefield 1
Battlefield 1 is the sequel to the highly-successful Battlefield 4, because of course it is. Numbers never seem to have been the strong point of many video game developers. Capcom, for a pointed example, took forever to count to three, preferring to put NINE games between Street Fighter II and Street Fighter III (although there was a paltry four games between Street Fighter IV and Street Fighter V, but I digress). Battlefield, as most of you probably know, is a first-person shooter, and this time, Battlefield 1 takes us back to the Great War: World War I. The year is 1918, and everything has gone to hell.
The Banner Saga (official site) was originally released for PC on Steam at the beginning of 2014, and the game was so incredibly well received that the developer, Stoic, has released a console version of this tactical role-playing game based in Nordic mythology. I’m going to approach this review with the assumption that you’ve not played the PC version, so let’s get all Nordic up in here and find out what the game is all about.
We Review: Need for Speed
Need for Speed first appeared 21 years ago back in 1994 for DOS and the first generation Playstation (and two other consoles, for those information purists). The game did well enough to warrant a sequel in 1997, and there has since been a new Need for Speed game almost every single year after that. Sometimes we even got two, lucky us! Now in its 22nd iteration, the newest game in the series, titled simply Need for Speed, makes its debut on the current generation of consoles. I gear up, rev my engines, and go full throttle as I race and drift my way through this review to see what it’s about.
We Review: Mad Max
The new Mad Max movie featured precious little of Max himself, so to fill the gap in the story, we have the video game that focuses almost exclusively on him. Let’s get set for some sun, sand, ridiculous cars, and brutal mayhem as I skip across the dunes to bring you this review.
Like the Bloods and the Crips, the rivalry between Mac and PC rages on, albeit with a little less bloodshed. But it’s cut-throat nonetheless as Epic Rap Battles of History pits the two champions of the computing world against each other. It’s the nerds versus the creatives but who is the real winner in this throwdown? Find out below.

We Review: Syndicate
When I first heard the Syndicate announcement I was filled with nostalgia harking back to the 90s. Those were the good old days of PC gaming. Before Windows became the centre of the universe, where running MS-DOS was the norm, and you needed to edit config.sys and autoexec.bat files just to make things work properly. When Peter Molyneux was still Bullfrog, before EA took over and he ran off to Microsoft. That being said, let’s find out what the new Syndicate game is all about.
You don’t see this every day. Actually it seems that creating Steampunk mice is not all together rare, but this is certainly the first time I have seen an exposed brain being incorporated with the brass, gears, and wood that make the Steampunk aesthetic what it is.
Deciding that “every self-respecting Victorian Scientist needs a brain in a jar”, hardware designer Peter Balch set about with some mad science, cannibalizing the innards of a standard optical mouse, and using other bits and bobs to give life to his new creation. Have a look at his brain-powered Steampunk mouse after the jump.
Tales of a Console Newbie
I’m a gamer, always have been, probably always will be. I’m proud of it. However for many years my gaming has been purely PC-based. There are many reasons for this. The first and most significant is that I just could never see the value in a machine purely for games; my PC is my workhorse and its fancy graphics card delivers better gaming quality than I have ever seen on a console. So I get the best of both worlds. Besides no console gamer can ever tell me first person shooters are better on a console… they would be lying. This is a fact.
This is the story of how I finally caved and bought a console. The full tale is after the jump.
Terminator Salvation, the fourth installment of the Terminator series, features stars the tantrum-throwing Christian Bale as John Connor as he and his human allies fight against the relentless robot armies of Skynet. This sci-fi post-apocalyptic war film set in 2018 is directed by McG and is slated for release in South Africa on June 5th, 2009. But enough about that, let’s talk the upcoming third-person shooter that will tie-in with the movie release.
Developed by Swedish game studio GRIN, Terminator Salvation will be a cover-based shooter whose story takes places two years prior to the film and shows the rise of John Connor through the soldier ranks to rightful place as the leader of the resistance. In that respect, the game’s story is an interquel (big words I eat them for breakfast!) that fits between Terminator 3 and the forthcoming Terminator Salvation movie.
The fight continues after the jump.
