Memes are all the rage these days. London-based designer Stefan van Zoggel asks the question: if short-lived internet memes and virals were treated as classic full length films, what would their promotional posters look like? Luckily, van Zoggel took it upon himself to answer his own question. Have a look at some of his minimalist movie posters for memorable memes like Nyan Cat, Double Rainbow, Bed Intruder, the Russian rickroll, and two girls who only have one cup.
Nyanyanyanyanyanyanya! No doubt you’ll recall the catchy tune that accompanied the 8-bit Nyan Cat as it flew through outer space and into our hearts.
At the height of its popularity, Nyan Cat inspired remixes, wallpapers, games, and homebrew mods that allowed you to replace the drab Windows progress bars with the jollier Nyan Cat. DeviantART user Philipp S even created a papercraft toy that replicated the movement of Nyan Cat. The result is smashing, see it in action after the jump.
Imagine this likely scenario: The “I just need to get to the next save point” excuse has failed and you’ve had to switch your video game off and go to bed. Have you wondered what some of your favourite video game characters might be doing while you are sleeping? Me neither. But YouTube user slamacow imagines what their nighttime follies would be in this music video. Spoiler: they dance to bad techno music, but Nyan Cat makes an appearance so it’s not all bad.
