We Review: Ultimate NES Remix (3DS)

NES Remix 1 and 2 appeared a few months ago on the Wii U as two separate titles, pitting you against various NES games to complete assorted tasks. The games were fun, and had us doing things that we’d either done ourselves hundreds of times before, or doing stuff we’d never thought of doing (or stuff we couldn’t ever do with the original games). Now the game’s gone portable, and a collection from both Remix games are available for the 3DS. Let’s see how the 8-bit retro nostalgia holds up.

We Review: Disney Magical World (3DS)

Disney Magical World is a Life Sim game that puts you into some famous Disney worlds to roam or play at will. Think of it as Animal Crossing meets Disney. It’s not the kind of game that’s usually on anyone’s radar: but I’m going to tell you why it should be.

We Review: Comic Workshop (Nintendo 3DS)

This is going to be a bit of an unusual review: since I’m reviewing an art application for the Nintendo 3DS, I decided to put the app to good use and create the majority of the review in the app. What you see has not been altered in any way outside the app, so you’re getting a decent representation of its use. Because of the nature of the review, I’ve provided some extra screenshots of the app itself afterwards (obviously, official screenshot artwork isn’t mine!) Enjoy!

We Review: Super Smash Bros. (3DS)

Of all the highly anticipated titles this year, Super Smash Bros. has got to be somewhere near the top of the list. For the uninitiated, it’s a sprawling beat-em-up featuring a host of Nintendo’s greatest and toughest characters (and a few borrowed from …here and there, amongst other places). It’s a fabulous roster of fighting, and the 3DS version is upon us. I put on my fighting words and take the knocks to bring you this *knockout* review.

We Review: LEGO Marvel Super Heroes

As you know, we here at Prawn Central LOVE us some LEGO games, so it’s with a lot of excitement that we got our grubby mitts on LEGO Marvel Super Heroes, the latest LEGO game from Travellers Tales. If you’ve played a LEGO game before, I doubt there’ll be much in this review that’s new to you, but I think you should read it anyhow, if only for the entertainment value. Excelsior!

We Review: Bravely Default

All fans of JRPGs, stick up your hands. Odds are, you lot were also fans of Final Fantasy at some point or another. Odds are, the same lot of you are a bit disillusioned with how weird the latest batch of Final Fantasy games are, yet also how samey other JRPGs are. You’ll be glad to know that a JRPG has come along to shake up all the old tropes, and yet keep things fun in the way the older Final Fantasy games did. Enter Bravely Default.

We Review: SpongeBob SquarePants: Plankton’s Robotic Revenge

Every now and again, a game comes along defies the genres. A game so mighty and amazing that you wonder where it has been all your life. A game, though based on either a film or a TV series, is so brilliant, so wonderful, so totally mindbendingly stunning, that you wonder what kind of magic brain-boosting coffee the developers were drinking. A game that is so funny it reduces you to tears. So emotional that it leaves you a gibbering wreck on the floor, controller in hand. Plankton’s Robotic Revenge is not that game. However, it does feature Spongebob SquarePants, so there’s that. Are you ready kids? I can’t HEAR you!

We Review: Pokémon X/Y

If you’ve not heard of Pokémon before, you’ve probably been living under a large rock. In Rockville. Which itself is also under a rock. For those of you who ARE aware of one of the biggest collection-based games around, you’ll also be aware that there was recently a new iteration that, like many prior versions, is available in two flavors: Pokémon X and Pokémon Y. Since they’re functionally identical, with a few Pokémon unique to each flavor, this review covers both X and Y.

We Review: Animal Crossing: New Leaf

The Animal Crossing series, which started in 2001 on the Gamecube, has its first outing on the 3DS as New Leaf. The game takes a number of new directions with New Leaf, with many of the decisions being put into your hands. I packed my bags and went to go stay in the new town for a while to see what being Mayor is like.
