Marquese Scott Dances to Michael Jackson’s “Thriller”

You may remember Marquese “Nonstop” Scott from his wibbly wobbly dance routine set to Pumped Up Kicks.

In his latest video, the king of the dubstep dance pays tribute to the late king of pop. Watch as Scott pops, locks, and contorts his body in a reinterpretation of Michael Jackson’s Thriller. I swear this man has no bones in his body.

Another Brick in the (Mariachi) Wall

Part two of Pink Floyd’s track “Another Brick in the Wall” has seen numerous covers during the years, from rappers Salt ‘n’ Pepa in the the late nineties to the rocky Korn to Eric Prydz’ dance version in 2007. In 2011 2009, that honour fell to the affable chaps of the mariachi band, Mariachi Cabos.

Mariachi Cabos also covered Michael Jackson’s “Beat It”. Listen to that hilarity after the jump.

Transformers Dance to “Thriller”

The 1980s was a renaissance for cartoon series, and during that time a certain pop singer released a ghoulish, funk-inspired single. This tribute video mashes together those two wonderful 80s creations. Watch in sheer amazement as the Autobots shake their shiny metal asses to the tunes of Michael Jackson’s Thriller.

Wasn’t that thrilling? The video was created using a 3D app that is normally used for digital choreography, it is called MikuMikuDance.

Hilarious! Red Army Performs Michael Jackson’s “Beat It”

The final match of the FIFA World Cup was aired last night and was a boring affair if not for the scrappy fights between the players. We were in awe of Nigel de Jong’s high-flying kick to the chest of Spain’s Xabi Alonso. Clearly someone brushed up on his kung fu skills beforehand.

Anyways, from the country that bought you kung fu fighting, white rabbit candies, and the cultural revolution comes the latest viral video. It’s a hilarious tribute to the late Michael Jackson performed by the Chinese People’s Liberation Army. The video uses archive footage from a ceremony to mark the 30th anniversary of a significant retreat by the Red Army. The soldiers in full military dress are singing in perfect time to the sounds of MJ’s hit “Beat It” that has been dubbed over the original soundtrack. It’s brilliant stuff, you best check it out before it gets “harmonized” which apparently is Chinese slang for “censored”. Also, it may take a while to load, so be patient. If the video doesn’t load at all, watch it directly at Tudou.

Epic Thriller: Michael Jackson Face Morph

Now isn’t this cool? Back in 2005, Kelly Coats, an artist and musician from Los Angeles, California created a phenakistiscope (a fancy word for the predecessor to the zoetrope) of the late Michael Jackson. Spinning the the optical toy shows the different faces of Jackson through the years. Have a look at the Epic Thriller after the jump.

Pomplamoose: Beat It

Californian musicians Jack Conte and Nataly Dawn make up the indie band Pomplamoose and they’ve made this excellent cover of Michael Jackson’s hit single “Beat It”. The cover is called a VideoSong because at any point what you see is what you hear. Check it out below.

And we’re Back!

Overnight, the Onelargeprawn blog seems to have suffered a cardiac arrest of sorts, and I was greeted with the dreaded Bandwidth Limit Exceeded error as I tried to log on today. Needless to say, we’re back from the dead thanks to the resuscitate hands of our hosting company Texo – cheers lads  ;-) Transmission will resume shortly.

In case you somehow missed it, the Interweb is awash with news of Michael Jackson’s death. Doctors were unable to revive the king of pop when he experienced a cardiac arrest earlier this morning. His unexpected death has not only devastated fans, but also started speculations as to what killed him. The jokes have begun as well, and it seems Horatio from CSI Miami is on the case.

Is it a little too early for the jokes? Probably, but this is the unstoppable force of the Internet.
