Transformers: Dark of the Moon

Well it’s out and, as always, the teaser gets you pumped only to be disappointed by the feature. Transformers: Dark of the Moon will be rather different seeing that the writing duo of Roberto Orci & Alex Kurtzman did not pen this installment. And most importantly high school skank, Megan Fox was not cast. However Shia LeBeouf is :reallypissed:

Set for release on the 1 July 2011.

Watch for yourselves and let us know what you think. I’ll be happy to find out who the Transformer is, that’s shown at the end.

Time to Get Ugly With Jonah Hex

We have just returned from watching Iron Man 2. It was entertaining although not as great as the first one. Also, whilst Don Cheadle is a great actor, I really did miss Terence Howard as Rhodey. He and Downey Jr. had a great chemistry, something I didn’t quite see in Cheadle’s performance. It was admirable but a little flat. Anyways, you’re clearly not here for that.

Just as Iron Made made it from the comic book to the big screen, a DC Comics antihero who has been around since the 70s will soon be crossing the divide. In the upcoming action flick Jonah Hex, the surly bounty hunter is given a chance to clear warrants on his head if he tracks down and stops the plans of the villainous Quentin Turnbull. Hex was left scarred by Turnbull in the past so payback is certainly going to get ugly.

The first trailer hit the Internet this weekend. Check it out below – be warned it contains Megan Fox so you may be repulsed or titillated.

The role of Jonah Hex is played by Josh Brolin (Planet Terror, No Country for Old Men), with John Malkovich (Shadow of the Vampire, Con Air) playing Turnbull. And in one of her most challenging roles, Megan Fox tackles the role of Leila, a gun-wielding prostitute.

Jonah Hex releases in U.S. theatres on June 18th (movie poster) but it seems South African audiences may have to wait until August 3rd to see it.

Update (May 17th): Warner Brothers has recently released a set of new character posters for the movie. We thought you might like to see them. Megan Fox is there by default, but the inconvenient title text is obscuring her naughty bits.

Personas: How Does The Internet See You?

The Metropath(ologies) exhibit at the MIT Museum is an art installation about living in a world that happens to be over-supplied with information. Personas is a component of that exhibit, using some high tech jiggery pokery and the Internet to track your Web persona.

The process couldn’t be simpler – go to the Personas site, type in your name (first and last name, please) and after some number-crunching, it will spit out a data portrait, letting you see you the way the Internet sees you.

Personas scours the web for information and attempts to characterize the person – to fit them to a predetermined set of categories that an algorithmic process created from a massive corpus of data. The computational process is visualized with each stage of the analysis, finally resulting in the presentation of a seemingly authoritative personal profile.

Personas demonstrates the computer’s uncanny insights and its inadvertent errors, such as the mischaracterizations caused by the inability to separate data from multiple owners of the same name.

Here’s the data portrait for onelargeprawn. Click to embiggen.

I’m glad there’s no reference to occasional drug abuse (I didn’t inhale), but I’m slightly concerned about where all that aggression is coming from…I bet it’s my doppleganger, I call him Klaus. Say hello Klaus. Hello.

Get your own data portraits at Personas. And let us know how if you find anything interesting.

Data portraits of Jacob Zuma, DJ Fresh, and Megan Fox are after the jump.

The Megan Fox Boycott Boycott

Internet citizens, much like small children, tend to do the opposite of what you tell them. Late last month, Asylum wondered what a day would be like if Megan Fox media wasn’t polluting the Internet. Thus they banded together with other men-centric web sites yesterday in an Internet-wide media ban on the toe-thumbed actress.

Other sites, however, decided to boycott the boycott and embrace the Fox phenomenon with open arms and jizz in their pants; the Sun went as far as calling yesterday “Megan Fox Day”. In case you missed it (like I did), herewith is a veritable treasure chest of Megan Fox stuff.

OK, that’s it. I got bored. Honestly, humanity is running out of good, wholesome people to idolize.

Another Transformers 2 Trailer Rolls Out

Another Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen trailer hits the Interwebs. It’s lean on dialogue but full of explosions and an obligatory near-up shot of Megan Fox to arouse a slight boner. I wonder if that’s representative of the film as a whole. Check it out.

Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen is slated for release on 26 June 2009 in South Africa.

BONUS: Paramount Pictures revealed the full list of Autobots and Decepticons that will appear in Michael Bay’s Transformers: Revenge Of The Fallen and Emipre has the details. [thanks Grrrr….]
