The Story of Oedipus, Performed by Vegetables

Sigmund Freud’s theory of the Oedipus complex says that a certain neurosis where a male child unconsciously desires to kill his father and have sexual relations with his mother. His theory is based on the legend of Oedipus.

In his creative short film, Jason Wishnow tells the tragic tale of Oedipus using the most unlikely actors—vegetables. The stop-motion film took two years to create and starts in medias res where the adult Oedipus, played by a potato, is travelling to Thebes and encounters a piece of broccoli driving a chariot. Neither wants to let the other go first and a fight breaks out. Oedipus kills the offending floret and unwittingly fulfils the first part of a disturbing prophecy. See what happens next below, but be warned, the film contains scenes of vegetable sensuality.

‘The Wolfman’ Trailer Bares Its Fangs

Hell’s horses! I think I pee’d a little. Directed by visual effects dude Joe Johnston, The Wolfman is a remake of the 1941 film of the same name, and that tells the story of one Lawrence Talbot who hunts for his brother’s murderer and falls prey to the werewolf’s bite.

Universal Pictures couldn’t have picked a worse time to announce the trailer, airing it at the same time people were having mini-orgasms from one of the most anticipated trailers ever, James Cameron’s Avatar. In any case, see The Wolfman trailer below.

Set in the 1880s, The Wolfman stars Benicio Del Toro in the lead role, supported by Anthony Hopkins (the father), Emily Blunt (the love interest), and Hugo Weaving (the detective). The movie has been dogged by delays since its announcement in 2006, but will finally see the big screen on February 12th, 2010.
