It should say something about the origins of this game that it was originally titled Shin Megami Tensei x Fire Emblem; it’s got a new name now, but Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE (pronounced “Sharp FE”) is still a Shin Megami Tensei (or as the fans call it, Megaten) game underneath. I’ve been a huge fan of the Megaten series for years, so I was looking very much forward to getting my hands on Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE to see what it was about.

It appears the crossroads of heavy metal and pop music meet (unsurprisingly) in Japan. Before the creation of BABYMETAL the world’s first half pop/half heavy metal band, its three female members didn’t even know what metal music was. Perhaps it’s by design or just happenstance, but the ladies certainly rock out to their “dangerous kawaii” image. Check out their cute head-banging antics in Give Me Choco!!.
BABYMETAL’s self-titled album can be purchased on iTunes.

I know more about the Hadron Collider than what goes on in the minds of some Japanese people. In the music video for her debut J-pop single for Warner Music Japan, “PONPONPON”, blogger and model Kyary Pamyu Pamyu welcomes you to her “doll house”. It’s a rather odd place where floating brains and eyes embedded in toast are commonplace, and even her farts are strikingly colourful. You must see this video, be warned though, the tune can be extremely catchy and/or unbearably annoying.
If you’d like an English translation of the lyrics, see it at Wonky Translation. If this video made complete sense to you, then do drop us a comment and let us know what any of this madness means.
