Hitler: The Nollywood Movie

Oh my. Straight out of Nollywood comes the story of “simple” engineering student George, who falls with the wife of Hitler, a notorious gangster who rules the university campus. With tempers boiling over, the case soon becomes a flesh eaters’ affairs. Lol, wut? Have a look at the trailer.

Celine Dion, Hitler, cannibals, and cheesy sound effects. Don’t know about you, but I’m sold.

Totalitarian Architecture of the Third Reich

From Dark Roasted Blend comes a fascinating article on how the Nazi government used architecture to intimidate their people and to showcase the regime’s strengths. Hitler was a great admirer of the Roman Empire, and most of the structures and monuments designed by the Nazi party’s chief architect Albert Speer imitated Imperial Rome.

From the plans to rebuild Berin into Welthauptstadt (“World Capital”) Germania, to the Olympic Stadium for Aryan triumphs in sports, to the Reich Chancellery which would intimidate foreign dignitaries and politicians, Hitler and his associates celebrated the German national identity as the master Aryan race through architecture.

Nazis in Colour

Here is a fascinating collection fished from a Life Magazine archive of old Pre-WWII Nazi photos. Apart from the charismatic Hitler and the masses that thronged to see him, it’s amazing how prevalent the Nazi symbol was. Those giant flags were designed the party’s chief architect Albert Speer who constructed a number of structures, including the Zeppelinfeld stadium in Nuremberg where the party rallies were held.
