Super Cool Soccer Ads

I can’t say I’m a big fan of soccer. I remember having to play it during the physical ed classes in school. I use the word “play” loosely – I mainly sat on the bench and occasionally stepped out onto the pitch to kick a ball that wandered into my vicinity. If there ever was a position for what I did, it would be “left right out”.

With less than three weeks to go before the start of the 2010 soccer world cup here in South Africa, I found this great commercial to get me into the mood for footy. It’s packed with football royalty with the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, Didier Drogba, Patrice Evra, Wayne Rooney, and a certain donut-eating, beer-drinking cartoon character. Coming up after the jump, another Nike ad directed by the very cool Guy Ritchie and Powerade’s never-ending game.

Another Cracking “Sherlock Holmes” Trailer

After the first trailer for Guy Ritchie’s upcoming action-adventure Sherlock Holmes, our very own Lucy Furr felt a tad weird about this re-imagining of England’s finest detective. Being of a simpler mind, I thought it was flippin’ fantastic, and from the looks of the latest trailer, it’s going to be a jolly good show indeed.

There’s a fair amount of rollicking action thrown in there, Irene Adler looks tasty, and Watson and Holmes share some intimate, Bromance moments. Have a look at the trailer below or watch it in HD at YouTube.

Sherlock Holmes stars Robert Downey Jr., Jude Law, and Rachel McAdams. The movie will hit U.S. theatres on December 25th, 2009. It will reportedly air in South African movie houses on January 8th 1st, 2010.

Sherlock Holmes, I Presume?

I like Guy Ritchie, he’s made some stonking flicks. Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels and Snatch are two of my favourite; Swept Away, on the other hand was one film I wish I had never seen, kinda like that red rash on my testicles. In any case, Mr Ritchie seems to be back on wining ways with his reinvention of the enigmatic English detective, Sherlock Holmes.

Sir Arthur Conan Doyle would have been happy to see on-and-off drug addict Robert Downey Jr playing the pipe-smoking character and nanny-bonking Jude Law playing Holmes’ assistant, Dr Watson. Check out the trailer below or go to Trailer Addict.

I was expecting a dour mystery set in the foggy alleyways of London, but this seems as action-filled as any James Bond flick. I suppose it shouldn’t be surprising considering Holmes is a masterful singlestick player, boxer, and swordsman. The movie is due out in December 2009.
