Given the content of Bryan Fuller’s artistically gruesome series Hannibal, it’s hard to imagine it in a humourous way (moreso considering NBC has has lost its appetite for it). However, Hannibal is proved to be quite the comedian in this series of GIFs. Watch as our favourite serial killer/culinarian delivers some cheesy jokes. They’re killer.

How cool is this? By using a simple yet nifty visual effect, GIF creators are able to bring out eye-popping 3D qualities from 2D animated GIFs. Two vertical stripes are added to the GIF, and when a moving object blocks these lines, our brains are tricked into thinking that the object is coming out of the image.

Ever wanted to know what it’s like to kiss another person while having a tiny camera in your mouth?
That’s pretty gross. What’s an “adult kiss” like you wonder? Absolutely terrifying.

The MTV Video Music Awards must have felt like a bad acid trip to some people. Miley Cyrus twerked with teddy bears, gyrated against Robin Thicke’s crotch, and even pretended to pleasure herself with a giant foam glove. You can’t unsee this kind of stuff, but if you missed it click here to watch the hyper-sexual performance.
GIFs of the lewd display were promptly dispatched far and wide on the Internet and it didn’t take very long before Jen Lewis over at BuzzFeed decided it was a good idea to insert Miley Cyrus into a bunch of famous paintings. Georges Seurat’s Sunday afternoon is forever ruined, Edvard Munch’s man now has a reason to scream, and this was not the dinner theatre that Jesus had in mind. Have a look at the twerks of art after the jump.
The humble animated GIF is one of the older image formats. First introduced in 1987, there has been a resurgence in the use of animated GIFs in recent years, be it in memes or the more arty cinemagraphs.
Illustrator Dain Fagerholm creates some wonderfully quirky animations that he calls stereographic drawings. By constantly flitting between two images, the animations trick our eyes, giving us the impression that they are in 3D. Using this technique, Fagerholm brings his adorable hand-drawn monsters to life. Have a look at some of them after the jump.
Some years back the force was strong with a man called Folds Five. And he spent several hours re-creating animated GIF summaries of the original Star Wars films that were released between ’77 and ’83.
Check out his gems below. It may be distracting showing them all at once, so here are the links to each episode.
Episode IV: A New Hope (738 KB)
Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back (1008 KB)
Episode VI: Return of the Jedi (1062 KB)

Three Frames
The idea behind Three Frames is to deconstruct a movie into a three-framed animated GIF that is on an endless loop. The results are bizarre, retro, and strangely cool.
It’s a basic concept, but if simple things amuse simple minds, then it’s got me hypnotized. Have a look at some of them below – a 1000 points to anyone who guesses which movies the animations are from.
See more at the Three Frames tumblelog. Note that some of the animations are NSFW and could induce seizures.
