We Review: Metroid Prime: Federation Force

The world’s least anticipated game in the Metroid series is Federation Force–seriously; someone once started a petition to put a stop to its development. It leaves us with a small ton of questions, though. Where is the plucky heroine of the Metroid series, Samus Aran? Why do we have a bunch of chibi guys in giant mechs? And why are they playing with a giant ball? Let’s find out in our review. Onward, brave squad!

We Review: Aliens: Colonial Marines

Ridley Scott’s 1979 sci-fi horror, Alien may have had a slow start but the sense of dread built up as every minute passed by. I found it foreboding, and terrifying in places. Seven years later, James Cameron’s sequel was much less scary but punchier in the action department. It was where most of the shooting took place. It so happens that shooting things makes good fodder for video games (Ed: Imagine that!), and Sega—with blessings from 20th Century Fox—tasked Gearbox Software (of Borderlands fame) with the fan service. A five-year development cycle later and Aliens: Colonial Marines was hatched. Is this the bug hunt you’ve been waiting for? Or is it a bad egg? My tour of duty continues after the jump.

We Review: Battlefield 3

After months of hype and fanciful trailers taking stabs at Call of Duty I’m not sure I’m man enough to take the fall if this review goes horribly wrong, and the fans of either franchise aren’t quite in agreement with my opinion on the matter. So let’s see if Battlefield 3 amounts to endless hate mail, or fabulous love letters. If I’m lucky, I might just dodge a bullet. The full review after the break.
