April Fail

I have been at work for only 10 minutes and am already exhibiting all the signs of extreme grumpiness. Only the misfortunes of others will help to lighten my mood, and thankfully the month of April has been good for that kind of thing. Courtesy of TwisterNederland, here is a collection of bails and fails from the month of April.

All Aboard the FAIL Train

It’s a new month and some people like to reflect on how their lives panned out in the preceding 30 days. YouTube user TwisterNederland is one such person, except he concentrates on things that other people have not done so well. This is his compilation of bails and fails for the month of March.

That was hilarious. Thank you, Internet. In case you missed the fail compilations for January and February, you can find them after the jump.

McDonald’s Double Fail Feast

Today is a good day for food fail, and it seems we’ve found a special at McDonald’s in Cape Town. Some people are cackling about it while others are feeling sick to their stomachs.

Popular South African blogger, Christopher Graham Mills of imod.co.za isn’t normally a patron of McDonald’s but yesterday evening, events forced him to purchase a burger at the branch in Kenilworth. To his surprise, he found what looks like a garden-variety snail tucked away in his burger box. We can imagine he exclaimed “Nee Fok!” before taking a photo of it and uploading it to Twitpic.

Comments on Mills’ blog are that of horror, sympathy (for both him and the snail), and a lack of surprise. Twitter user Shy_Mogwai seemed to think there might have been a mixup with the order:

The order was McEscargot, with garlic sauce, and a chicken burger on the side.

Meanwhile, in another part of town, in Long Street, someone making their opinion about McDonald’s known by making some minor alterations to a rather large advertising billboard. It’s succinct and does get the point across.

Have you had any interesting experiences at McDonald’s? Do let us know.

Bails and Fails

So it appears I am the only person in my department at work today. I thought of messing up their work areas but given their high intelligence quotients, I doubt they would believe that an errant rock rabbit broke into the building and went to the toilet on all of their desks. Thus, I am relegated to scrawling the lyrics to Celine Dion’s “All By Myself” on my whiteboard and watching silly people fall down and hurt themselves. Today I find solace in their pain.

It may not have been an entertaining as the compilation of freerunning fails but I found that cathartic. How about you?

Freerunning Bails, Fails, and Bloody Trails

Abe over at The Given Collective posted a bone-crunchingly funny video on the local gaming forum and I was compelled to show it to you. When done right, urban acrobatics like freerunning and parkour can be full of win, however, put a foot wrong or miss a ledge and it’s into painful fail territory very quickly. Almost always there is someone with a video camera at the scene and YouTube user borisparkour has kindly created a compilation of some brutal yet hilarious freerunning fails. Check out Don’t Freerun (You Will Die) below.

Hilarious Newspaper Headlines

I’ve heard that proof-reading is a thankless job. I’m sure that proof-readers and subs on newspapers sometimes just can’t resist slipping a sly and amusing mistake into copy.  Other times of course these “slip-ups” are the result of a lazy incompetent twit. Well, intentional or not, these typos are funny nonetheless.

When Anime Fansubs Go Wrong

A bowl of pain rice. One of my most fond memories of holidaying in Thailand was the less-than-perfect translations in restaurant menus. As we travelled further from Bangkok, the translation got worse (and funnier as a result). I thought of those moments when I came across this gem of awesomeness.

With its root in the early 80s, a fansub is a version of an anime program that has been subtitled by fans, for fellow fans who do not understand Japanese. Not all translators are equal, and sometimes, when the translations go wrong, the results can be very amusing to say the least.

Darth Vader and the Romantic Subplot

Just a few days ago we featured some cool illustrations of the fearsome Darth Vader. Whilst he may have been an imposing figure and found your lack of faith to be disturbing, Vader was lightweight when it came to flirting with the ladies.

This character flaw can be seen when he falls in love with a female co-worker at a staff briefing. He makes a total hash of it, excuses himself, and ends up in the ladies toilet. Check it out below.

How embarrassing was that?
