Dazzling Eye Shadow Panoramas

You may remember Paige Thompson’s cute animal-ipsticks. Artist Katie Alves from Canada also paints her face but in a more dazzling fashion. Using her eyelids as the canvas, she paints a panorama that stretches from one eyelid to the other.

From glimpses of the Cheshire Cat to the road of yellow brick to carpets flying across the desert, Alves captures the essence of a variety of movies (mostly Disney). Have a look her eye shadow panoramas after the jump.

We Review: rAge 2011

Your favourite gaming reviewer (that’s me, by the by) went to the 2011 rAge expo at the Coca Cola Dome in Johannesburg this weekend.

I got a good look at some of the most exciting up and coming games for the next few months, and even got hands on with a few of them, where I was able to kick, punch, hit, and beg my way to the front. Hit the jump to find out what went down at the event.

We Review: Epic Mickey

Mickey Mouse is Walt Disney’s most recognizable and profitable cartoon character. Having starred in countless cartoon strips in the past, the once beloved Mickey Mouse isn’t making as grand an impact on this generation of young people and it is feared he may be turning into nothing more than a corporate mascot for the company that created him over 80 years ago. Change was sorely needed and that task of re-imagining Mickey Mouse was handed over to Warren Spector and the good people at Junction Point Studios.

In Spector’s new vision that is Epic Mickey, the usually cheery mouse steps out of his comfort zone and is forced to embark on a dark and dreary adventure that one will not soon forget. Ever curious, Mickey stumbles onto the creation of sorcerer Yen Sid (“Disney” spelled backwards) – a model world that is a mirror of Disneyland that serves as a home for all of Disney’s discarded cartoons and forgotten fairground attractions. Mickey fumbles around with the sorcerer’s magical brush and mistakenly unleashes a sinister Shadow Blot. The situation is made more dire when Mickey tries to erase the creature but ends up spilling thinner all over the the world. Delirious with panic, Mickey legs it from the scene while the blot invades the world. Months later with the event forgotten, Mickey’s nap is interrupted by the Shadow Blot who pulls him into the world.

Find out what happens after the cut.

Disney Princes Gone Wild

We’re all for equal opportunity here at Onelargeprawn. You’ve seen Disney Princess looking a tad macabre and taken a trip to the sexy side of fairy tales.

Now it is time for the lads to get a little…undressed. Artist David Kawena takes a look at Disney Princes like we’ve never seen them before (or perhaps never wanted to). Aladdin, Hercules, and Prince Naveen to mention a few are set to go on a homoerotic adventure and are dressed the part – topless and displaying their bulging man bits in boxer briefs and jockstraps (top tip: do not google jockstraps). Will Turner looks especially comely in a frilly renaissance number.

See some of Kawena’s Disney Princes after the jump.

Marvel Gets TRON-ified

Marvel.com recently put up a special range of covers which shows our popular comic book heroes into a new light, Tron-style. This also highlights that Marvel has begun designs for a Marvel Tron comic, Tron: The Betrayal. It is a miniseries so I’m hoping that it’s full of quality!

Since Disney’s acquisition of Marvel I have been very weary of the future for comics, but it seems that Marvel is keeping its true spirit alive. I just hope it doesn’t go further than this.

Walt Disney Pictures’ 3D adventure, Tron: Legacy is due in theaters on December 17th. So along with this, Marvel comics has produced these variant covers to promote the new film. These characters have been re-imagined to tie in with the Tron universe, and of course, to get us even more hyped up about this highly anticipated film. The artists, Mark Brooks and Brandon Peterson, have truly nailed the crossover.

Tron: Legacy is a sequel to the original 1982 film and promises new material and a great cinematic experience. Tron: Evolution is the tie-in video game, scheduled for release late this year as well. I’m hoping that these Marvel characters can make some guest appearances in there.

So here are some of the Marvels’ Tron variant covers:

Disney Princesses Get a Macabre Makeover

You may have thought the superheroes in our gender reversal post were a tad skanky, so we wanted to turn things around with this post. Try as we might we couldn’t find any overly prudish superheroes, sorry. The chances of that were as high as Julius Malema making any sense when he talks. Bloody agent.

We moved on and our next search brought us to character designer Jeffrey Thomas who has a knack for taking your fond childhood memories and twisting them into something quite sinister. In his Twisted Princess series, Thomas takes some of Disney’s beloved princesses and gives them with a makeover from hell. He often includes a new story line explaining how they got that way.

Have a look at some of the twisted princesses after the jump.
