Imperial March Dubstep

I know more about the Hadron Collider than I do about dubstep. Producer/DJ Dirt Monkey takes Darth Vader’s foreboding entrance theme tune, “The Imperial March” and adds liberal amounts of elements from the dubstep and drum n’ bass genres. Have a listen to his bootleg remix below.

The song is available for download on SoundCloud.

The 2010 Vader Project

Darth Vader is a likable chap. He is romantic, can rap, and even gives good directions. Since 2007, artists have been paying tribute to the iconic sith lord by customizing a 1:1 scale replica of the actual Darth Vader helmet used in the Star Wars films.

It’s called The Vader Project and this year 100 notable artists were asked to re-imagine the Darth Vader helmet in their own styles. The results are eclectic to say the least. Have a look at a few of the designs after the jump.

Darth Vader Invades Your GPS

A friend once told me that a dead flea had a better sense of direction than I did, so I had to kill him … in my mind. He’s not half wrong, my path-finding skills are minimal at best and I should really invest in a GPS. I’ve seen a Garmin ad on the television – the one with a salmon using its natural abilities to overcome obstacles and safely arrive at its intended destination. It’s lucky that ad stopped where it did, for salmon have a nasty habit of dropping dead shortly after spawning.

And then there’s Dutch GPS manufacturer, TomTom, who have reached out to the galaxies and obtained the services of a certain dark lord of the sith to provide voice directions while you drive to your destination.  A big bag of WIN right there. Watch the outtakes as Lord Vader records his GPS voice for TomTom. He compels you to turn to the dark side.

Roundabounds, lol. You can buy Vader’s voice at the TomTom official website for USD 12.00.

BONUS: If you liked this, you may enjoy Vader and the romantic subplot.

Darth Bale and the Vader Sessions

It’s Friday we have a Star Wars double feature for you today. First off, back in 2006 YouTube user akjak took sound clips of James Earl Jones from his other movie roles and dubbed them over the Darth Vader scenes in Star Wars Episode IV. The results show Vader as a lonely, confused, depraved man going through a nervous breakdown. It’s totally made of win. Check out the Vader Sessions below.

And next up is Christian Bale’s infamous 2009 tirade mixed into Darth Vader scenes from Star Wars Episode IV. Spoiler alert: Darth Bale is less funny and after the jump.

Darth Vader and the Romantic Subplot

Just a few days ago we featured some cool illustrations of the fearsome Darth Vader. Whilst he may have been an imposing figure and found your lack of faith to be disturbing, Vader was lightweight when it came to flirting with the ladies.

This character flaw can be seen when he falls in love with a female co-worker at a staff briefing. He makes a total hash of it, excuses himself, and ends up in the ladies toilet. Check it out below.

How embarrassing was that?

I am Your Illustrator: Awesome Darth Vader Images

As iconic villains go, Darth Vader is surely one of the greatest. Falling to the dark side of the Force, the Sith Lord not only possessed a face for radio, but also became the scourge of the Jedi.

Given his supremely awesome powers (the Force Choke being my personal favourite), it’s no surprise to find Vader immortalized in some way or another. And here are some illustrations of the dude getting down with his bad self.

See more at Abduzeedo.
