A Halloween party is just around the corner and I’m flummoxed for ideas. I had thought of going as a flasher, it would be a truly frightening experience for all involved, but I’m not prepared to clean up the vomit that would erupt from the mouths of the traumatized victims. To get further inspiration* I find myself looking at the freaky femmes, the ghoulish gals, the horrific honeys (OK enough of that) of illustrator and concept artist, Matt Dixon.

Living Room PC Case Mod is Tiny, Cozy

The only customization I did on my PC was asking for the case, monitor and other bits to be black. I’d show you a picture of it, but I’m afraid the sheer blackness of it may cause you to soil yourself. Instead, have a look at this rather unique case mod, where a hobbyist has created a cozy, inviting living room inside the PC.

The Living Room PC comes with a three-seater sofa, an armchair, a pot plant, a and little lamp that plugs into one of the PC’s power circuits. The bottle of Coca Cola and a copy of the New York Times paper adds the extra touch. The furniture is so intricate, the maker must have the patience of a saint (or a serial killer).

Pssst. Have you come home from a tiring day at the office? Do you want to relax, have a cup of soothing Chamomile tea, and enjoy some pixel porn? Well then I have just the thing for you.

Cyporn is an art installation by Pierrick Thébault, and interface designer and journalist for Amusement Magazine. Inspired by the avatars of Cyworld, which is apparently the number one social networking website in South Korea, Thébault created a set of 5 pixel porn scenes of characters who left their saccharine-sweet home of Cyworld and to seek a more hedonistic lifestyle in the Game Boy.

Magneboy and the Laws of Attraction

The only reason I would stop playing today’s timewaster is this one – to tell you about it ;-) Created by UK-based game house Nitrome, Magneboy is an sliding-block puzzler where you play as an uber-cute clockwork robot who uses its powers of magnetism to cross chasms, create bridges, and shuffle past various obstacles, ultimately to get to the end of each level.

I don’t think it was designed to be difficult – I managed to get to level 26 without too much trouble. Considering that a dead flea has a better sense of direction than I do, it’s safe to say that the learning curve here isn’t too steep. Great music and a retro pixel art design complete the really cool package that Magneboy is.
