This Man Crumbles Before Your Very Eyes

I don’t know what part of the world you’re from, but nothing quite says Friday to me than men crumbling to pieces for my sheer enjoyment.

The video and website form the corporate campaign of Acconia, which according to its website is a world leader in the renewable energy sector, capable of demonstrating the technical and economic viability of a new energy model based on (the) criteria of sustainability.

Edit: I had intended to finish this post off before I left the office on Friday but promptly forgot, so here’s your opportunity to shine. Insert witty closing statement here.

“My Cars Showreel” is All Kinds of Awesome

I probably had you at “cars” right? In this stonking video by Pantural a Shelby Mustang, Chevloret Camaro, some sort of Jeep 4×4, and a VAZ-2107 unsuspectingly lining up for a race. Suddenly they become infected by a mysterious black ooze. And then a AH-64 Apache attack helicopter makes an appearance. And then I jizzed in my pants.

This video took him five days working time and 110 days rendering time! See more of Pantural’s outstanding 3D skills on YouTube.

“Prince of Persia: Sands of Time” Movie Trailer

Like countless other gamers, I loved Ubisoft’s 2003 action-adventure title, Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time. It’s been by far the most enjoyable in the series, although I have a soft spot for the 2008 outing “Prince of Persia” that was based around Zoroastrianism. A few people didn’t care for the cel-shaded graphics but I thought it was visually spectacular.

Anyways, it seems a game adaptation is in the works, and recently the trailer for Prince of Persia: Sands Of Time popped up on the Interwebs. Directed by Mike Newell (Four Weddings and a Funeral, Donnie Brasco, Love in the Time of Cholera), the film is to contain a mountain of CGI and occasionally star a few humans; those humans being Jake Gyllenhaal, Gemma Arterton, Ben Kingsley, and Alfred Molina. The plot is thus – a rogue prince who reluctantly joins forces with a mysterious princess to safeguard an ancient dagger that allow its possessor to rule the world. The villians seek to smite said heroes to gain the relic for themselves. It’s not rocket surgery folks.

Have a look at the trailer after the jump.

Visual Effects: 100 Years of Inspiration

In light of our previous post on what is likely to be the most special-effects laden movie yet, I found this most awesome montage that pays tribute to the films that have been dazzling audiences with groundbreaking special effects.

Intended as a into to a classroom lecture, Visual Effects: 100 Years of Inspiration takes a look at 26 notable visual effects films of the past century. Whilst it has skipped out the likes of Blade Runner, The Matrix, and Lord of the Rings, it goes a good job nonetheless. See it below.
