From Software are famous for their extremely hard games, and from Demon’s Souls to Dark Souls to Dark Souls II, you know you’re not going to have an easy time of this developer’s games. And like button-mashing masochists, everyone keeps going back for more punishment. Myself included. And this brutality is why we’re going to review Bloodborne, From Software’s first PS4 outing.
My last review of Grand Theft Auto V was for last-gen systems, and since then, it’s received a release on current-gen consoles, and now a belated release on PC. Either way, the game is huge, and on PC it’s crazy huge, physically speaking. The retail version contains a crazy 7 discs, while purchasing the download version on Steam will run you around 60GB. Hope you weren’t thinking of using your regular capped account for it! Incidentally, grabbing the retail version nets you a nifty map that you can frame or hang on your wall or use to wrap a small body in. Since the games are functionally similar, my prior review still stands, so I’ll be highlighting the differences of the PC version of the console version.
I never played any of the prior Saints Row games, so going into this game I wasn’t immediately familiar with any of the characters. This review is going to be taken from the unique perspective of someone unfamiliar with Saints Row. Would a standalone expansion be enough to turn someone into a fan? Would such a person understand the game without the backgrounds? I skew my halo and head for the highway to hell to find out.
Kirby: Triple Deluxe had a few small mini-games built into it, one of which was Dedede’s Drum Dash, a rhythm platform mini game that featured the spheniscidaean monarch. The mini-game has a new release as a standalone, slightly expanded version. I clatter across the kettles, traipse up the tomtoms, and sidle around the snares to review this game.
Watch Dogs appeared on most consoles late last year, but took some time to refactor for the Wii U console. I take this version of the game for a spin to see whether it’s worth hacking.
Disney Infinity, released last year, was Disney’s entry to the toys-that-come-to-life genre, alongside the only other entry: Skylanders. While Skylanders had to build their fan base almost from the ground up, Disney Infinity had the advantage of having a built-in fan base and a veritable slew of characters to draw upon. This year, Disney lets its Marvel characters take the helm with the new Disney Infinity: Marvel Super Heroes (aka Disney Infinity 2.0). I strap on my shield, get into my power armour, grab my hammer, sling my webs, and plug in my Awesome Mix vol. 1 to see what the new game is all about.
The original Bayonetta first appeared on PS3 and Xbox360 about four years ago and it was received with differing amounts of criticism. In light of the release of the sequel, Nintendo is releasing the first game for Wii U along with some new controls and new Nintendo-exclusive costumes for the leggy witch. Let’s see how it compares to the other console versions, shall we?
Deadpool is everyone’s favourite “Merc with a mouth” and all-around anti-hero. If you’re not already aware of his existence in Marvel’s X-Men universe, you’ve got a lot of catching up to do, and a lot to look forward to. In any event, Deadpool now gets his very own video game courtesy of High Moon Studios. But is Deadpool all talk and no action? Or vice versa? Or verse vica? Let’s find out.
One of the most beautiful games in existence makes an HD return to the PlayStation. Thanks to the wonderful folks at Capcom, I got a chance to review this game. Does it stand up to memory? Is it still as good as before? Let me paint you a (verbal) picture of what I found.
