This is altogether surreal and weirdly delightful. Green Porno is a series of short films penned by and staring actress Isabella Rossellini. These educational videos take a look at the reproductive habits of various insects and marine animals, and whether she is getting her head eaten off as a praying mantis or has a massive whale erection, Rossellini plays all the characters with charm and wit.
Green Porno is scientifically accurate yet so cheeky and silly. Have a look at two of our favourite episodes below. They might be NSFW on the account of simulated sex and heavy breathing.
Darth Vader is a likable chap. He is romantic, can rap, and even gives good directions. Since 2007, artists have been paying tribute to the iconic sith lord by customizing a 1:1 scale replica of the actual Darth Vader helmet used in the Star Wars films.
It’s called The Vader Project and this year 100 notable artists were asked to re-imagine the Darth Vader helmet in their own styles. The results are eclectic to say the least. Have a look at a few of the designs after the jump.
I just stumbled onto the drawings of Marc Johns, and had some great laughs. Perhaps it’s the mood I’m in but seeing a pair of green underpants with antlers attached to them just made me smile no end.
Johns thinks of some pretty absurd things and uses watercolours to create drawings that are simple and sparse, yet so very witty. We totally love his sense of humour, have a look at some of his illustrations after the jump.
Goran Konjevod is a professor of mathematics and theoretical computer science. It’s a good thing that he also loves origami otherwise we’d have a tough time convincing you how awesome computer science is.
Channeling his keen mathemagical energy, Mr. Konjevod has made some fantastic 3D paper (and copper) sculptures. He says this about his creations:
Most of my pieces so far are abstract shapes naturally formed by the tension of the paper when multiple layers of paper are arranged according to regular or irregular patterns. In that sense, they could almost be said to be discovered, rather than invented or designed…
…I try to restrict myself to working with single uncut sheets of paper or other foldable material (such as copper), and for the most part use very simple “pureland” folds. Normally, this last restriction would imply that the resulting forms are flat. However, a real sheet of paper is always three-dimensional—even when unfolded—and its thickness brings about a much more obvious three-dimensionality when multiple layers are present.
We think his abstract origami should do all the talking. See a few of them after the jump.
According to Uncyclopedia, zombies are defined thus:
Zombies are an improved form of human that are often found engaging in mindless consumerism, discussions about American Idol, neoconservatism and the consumption of brains or raping and mutilating other motherfucking human beings.
The zombies created by concept artist from Manuel Augusto Dischinger Moura (or Manuhell for brevity’s sake) go a step further – they know Kung Fu and other crazy martial arts. The 27-year-old from São Paulo, Brazil has taken some characters from a popular fighting game and given them a zombie makeover.

There are a lot of bizarre films out there. I haven’t watched as many as I’d like to but films like Happiness of the Katikuris, Tetsuo: The Iron Man, Mulholland Drive, eXistenZ, Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, Natural Born Killers, and A Clockwork Orange are pretty unorthodox to say the least. You may also recall The Horribly Slow Murderer with the Extremely Inefficient Weapon that we posted about some time back.
Now, from the mind of director Quentin Dupieux (Mr. Oizo) comes a story of a sentient rubber tyre (you read right) that roams the Californian desert and uses its psychokinetic energy to explode heads off hapless people and animals. His name is Robert.
A group of spectators is watching a mock-projection in the middle of the desert. They make comments on the scenes of the “film” as it is occurring before their eyes: Robert, a tire that has been abandoned in the desert, suddenly comes to life, for no reason. He learns how to get around, explores the desert and discovers in himself a passion for destroying insects and various lost items. Robert soon develops a telepathic gift, which gives him the ability to destroy anything he wants, without moving…
Have a look at the teaser trailer for Dupieux’ feature-length film, Rubber.
This has cult movie written all over it wouldn’t you say? Word has it that it’ll be released on September 15th in France. We hope it finds an international distributor and wheels its way down to South Africa. Rubber has an official website, but it seems password-protected.
You may have thought the superheroes in our gender reversal post were a tad skanky, so we wanted to turn things around with this post. Try as we might we couldn’t find any overly prudish superheroes, sorry. The chances of that were as high as Julius Malema making any sense when he talks. Bloody agent.
We moved on and our next search brought us to character designer Jeffrey Thomas who has a knack for taking your fond childhood memories and twisting them into something quite sinister. In his Twisted Princess series, Thomas takes some of Disney’s beloved princesses and gives them with a makeover from hell. He often includes a new story line explaining how they got that way.
Have a look at some of the twisted princesses after the jump.
Word from the Daily Mail is that the Chastity Cher is in the final stages of operation gender-swap and will next month ask a judge to formally change her gender to male and forthwith be known as Chaz Cher. Good on her/him.
We now move from the realm of normality to that of the extraordinary, and consider what male superheroes would look like if they were female. Two comic artists Mariano Navarro and Hernán Cabrera do just that – for each month of the year since 2007, they take a male character from a comic book or cartoon and create a suitably sexy female equivalent. Their gender reversals are freakishly awesome (note to self: find better synonyms).
Check out some of our favourite superhero gender reversals after the jump (possibly NSFW).
If you have a couple of free minutes today, let it be spent watching The Tale of How. Created by The Blackheart Gang back in ’06, the dark tale is about a flock of dodos living in a tree – and not this any ordinary tree mind you, this one is in the back of OTTO, the tentacled tyrant of the Indian Ocean. OTTO passes his time on the high seas by feasting on the dodos. The flightless birds send messages for help, but no one ever comes, and all seemed lost, until a visitor from the west lends a helping hand.
Wasn’t that superb? It took The Blackheart Gang nine long months of part-time work to create the tale (the making of is here) which happens to be the second part of the Dodo Trilogy. The other two works, The Tale of Then and The Tale of When are still to be made.
You might recognize one of the three members of The Blackheart Gang as Markus Wormstorm from the afro-electro duo, Sweat.X. See more about the creative bunch on their official website.
