Watch This: Adult Swim’s “Black Dynamite” Pilot Episode

OMG. This is hilarious. And rude. And violent. And brilliant. So, altogether nothing unusual when the name Black Dynamite is mentioned.

In this pilot episode for Adult Swim’s animated series, Black Dynamite, the Kung Fu-knowing, fried chicken-eating, lady-loving former CIA agent is trying to extract some information when he is asked to take on a more serious mission. It seems that Black Dynamite’s childhood mentor That Frog Kurtis has turned from inspirational puppet TV educator to a life of crime. Kurtis not only controls the sleaze in Puppet Street but has used the power of television to convince all the kids who watch his show to do his evil bidding. It is now up to up to Black Dynamite and his crew to beat the stuffing out of the evil pimp-ass frog. See how it goes down below [NSFW].

The animated series features the voice talents of Michael Jai White as Black Dynamite, Byron Minns (Bullhorn), Tommy Davidson (Cream Corn), and Kym Whitley (Honeybee). You’ll recognize those names from the 2009 live action film. The series is set to premiere on Adult Swim some time this year.

Christopher Walken Reads “The Three Little Pigs”

Christopher Walken surely needs no introduction. He is famous for keeping a watch in a very safe pace, requesting the application of more cowbell, and on one occasion, he even flew through the air. He is also a very good actor.

In 1993, Walken was invited to a TV show hosted by a younger Jonathan Ross to do a special reading of the classic fairy tale, Three Little Pigs and the Big Bad Wolf. Appearing in a sweater as loud as his personality, Walken reads the story in his typical style, not only entertaining the audience but himself too.

A Song of Ice and Fire and LEGO

George R. R. Martin has certainly made an impression on people. Book sales are up and the first in the series of epic fantasy novels, Game of Thrones, will see a comic book adaptation in September. The highly successful TV show concluded its first season and viewers can expect to return to the seven kingdoms in April 2012. The Internet has been busy churning out remixes of the Game of Thrones opening theme and I wouldn’t be surprised if LEGO don’t take advantage of critical success of Game of Thrones by creating a set of commemorative characters. The haven’t done it as yet but Sam Beattie has taken a stab at it.

The game designer from Boston, USA, has cannibalised bits and bobs from existing sets to create LEGO versions of the characters. From House Stark to the scheming High Council to the murderous Clegane Brothers, the likenesses are surprisingly good. See his Game of Thrones LEGO minifigs after the jump.

Zimmer Time!

Hans Zimmer needs no introduction. The 53-year old German-born film composer, who has been in the business for 34 years now, has delighted us with wonderful scores for some of our most favourite films. Zimmer will return to amaze us in the upcoming “Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows”, and will re-unite with Christopher Nolan to work on “The Dark Knight Rises”.

In this music video, YouTube user MovieZoneET creates a mashup of epic scenes from popular movies and TV shows, and sets it to a wonderful piece of Zimmer music — “Time” from the Inception OST.

Holy Compilation, Batman!

In the Batman TV series from the late 60s, actor Burt Ward (originally Bert Gervis) played one half of the “Dynamic Duo”, more specifically the embarrassing half. During his time as the Boy Wonder, Ward uttered many ridiculous “Holy,____Batman!” phrases. What follows is a cringe-worthy compilation of those nonsensical exclamations.

Darryn Bonthuys, from Extra Life, if you’re reading this, I hate you. The epicness that is Jean-Luc Picard is now stuck in my head.

Game of Thrones: An 8-Bit Theme Remix

As opening credits go, the one to Game of Thrones is quite the spectacle. The music is equally stirring and a number of people have remixed the opening theme to good effect. Roger Lima strummed a rocky cover of it, and YouTube user Brennesselano played the tune on his piano. And now comes another variation of the opening theme, this time in the style of the old 8-bit chiptunes. Check it out below.

If you’d like to download the MP3, the creator, Digitapp, has made it available on his website.
