Win a Copy of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2

Fayyaad over at Utter Insanity just sent me a mail that may or may not be of interest to you. I thought I’d post it anyways because it’s “be nice to work colleagues” month – a self-enforced ritual that occurs only once in three years.

Now, to celebrate yesterday’s launch of Infinity Ward’s universally acclaimed shooter, the dudes at Afrogamer (the African arm of the Eurogamer Network) are giving away a copy of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2.

The competition entails a little more leg-work than the ones here on Onelargeprawn, but Modern Warefare 2 is one of the most anticipated game of 2009, so if you want to get your hands on it you’ll need to do a fair bit of reconnaissance ;-)

The King of Fighters XII Competition Winners

Well hello there. It’s been a torrid, rainy weekend for Cape Town, and the start to the week is no better, but we’re hoping to make it a little happier for two lucky Onelargeprawn readers.

Our most recent gaming competition has come to an end, and to stand a chance of winning a copy of King of Fighters XII, we asked you to name the first game in The King of Fighters series. A quick trip to the official website reveals that King of Fighters ’94 was the first version SNK Playmore’s team-based fighter.

Movember Madness: Grow a ‘Tache, Donate to CANSA, Win Big!

Male prostate cancer is topic that may be dear to a man’s heart, well it’s more lower down, according to our in-house veterinarian.

Gavin over at LazyGamer is running a drive to raise money for charity and spread the awareness of prostate cancer and male depression. It’s a worthwhile cause on its own, but to sweeten the pot, they have two Rockstar Games hampers up for grabs – one will be given away to a randomly selected donator, the other will go to the individual who grows the gnarliest, most man-tastic moustache in the month on November Movember.

So I got an email this morning which I was about to dismiss as spam, but it turns out to be much more mysterious. The unit over at Megarom receive an encoded message from an unknown source, and because their top crypto guy pulled a sickie, they need help in decoding the bloody thing.

It seems the only clue available to decode the message is this: Freedman Arrow. All attempts to decode the message (www.megarom.co.za/oaf.htm) thus far have drawn a blank. Can you decode it? If so you could stand a chance of doing something on some day at a certain place and specific time. Yes, we’re being quite vague here, but that’s how we’re rolling today ;-)

However, thanks to another unknown source who sends us messages in the clear, we do know that Vladimir Makarov is recruiting five more mercenaries for his cause, and will be putting them through their paces on 11.10.09 so we can only assume that these five soldiers will have to be located in the Johannesburg vicinity, or be able to get to Johannesburg.

And The Winner Is…

…ME!

Since February this year, we here at Onelargeprawn have been hard at work getting our hands on prizes to give them away to you, our loyal readers. We’ve had some really great companies who have sponsored their goodies for our various competitions and I’d like to send a massive thanks to them for their kindness.

I can’t enter our competitions, and whilst it’s always great to give stuff away, I wouldn’t mind winning something occasionally. And recently, a little bit of good karma must have rubbed off – the blog aggregating juggernaut Afrigator teamed up with financial institution Mimoney to offer R500 vouchers to five lucky bloggers, and I was one of them.

Being a gamer, I spent that voucher before you can say “Press Start”! It wouldn’t come as a surprise that I pre-ordered the critically acclaimed Uncharted 2: Among Thieves from Kalahari.net. At the moment, you can’t actually use Mimoney vouchers to pre-order goods at Kalahari, but a simple workaround suggested by their ever helpful staff got the order done.

So there you have it, 172 words to tell you I won something. It hardly enriches your life, but I thought I’d share it anyway. ;-)

Our one-day only mysterious PS3 prize hamper giveaway has just ended and I must say it’s the most popular competition we have had on the blog thus far! Do you like pleasant surprises? Of course you do, and we here at Onelargeprawn take great pleasure in bringing you this one-day only promotion at the bargain basement price of…ZERO. You’re probably shocked, maybe awed, but I assure you it’s good and it’s true.

We’ve been on the blower with our friends at Megarom who are busy putting together a fantastic PS3 prize hamper. No word on the actual contents of the hamper, the secret is kept from us, but what we can tell you is it will consist of a few of the titles that have already been released this year PLUS some other great goodies! The only catch – this competition is valid for one day, today.

Happy Monday 7: The Death Head T-shirt Winners!

A thousand apologies for the lateness, I had to see a man about a dog. The man was late, but the dog did look enticing ;-)

Back on topic though, our most awesome Death Head t-shirt competition has come to an end, and we’re hoping to make Monday a little happier for two lucky people. To stand a chance of winning a t-shirt, we asked you to name the three bad guys that make up the Death Head design.
