Coming Soon: Stem-Cell Boob Jobs

The debate over the use of stem cells is usually a heated one, and to add more fuel to the fire is a new stem cell therapy that offers “natural” breast augmentation, with a reduction in stomach fat as an added bonus. The treatment involves extracting stem cells from spare fat on the stomach (or thighs) and growing them in a woman’s breasts.

The stem-cell enhanced breasts would feel more natural as the tissue would have the same softness as the rest of the breast, and there won’t be any leakage as might be the case with foreign implants. An increase of one cup size is the likely outcome, and the cost of the procedure is GBP 6,500.

No doubt, it’ll only be a matter of time before men too can use their spare fat deposits to augment their wangs (no offense to anyone people called Wang). The term “hung like a horse” may soon become commonplace.

Reason: The Washing Machine of my Dreams

Austrian economist Joseph Schumpeter had a theory says that when the economy is floundering as it is now, innovators will lead the recovery. And a British entrepreneur is out to prove that theory with Reason, probably the most simple, unique, and perfect washing machine in the world.

This washing machine has two reservoir pods containing 1.5 liters each that automatically dispense the right amount of detergent and softener depending on the weight of your filthy laundry (it accepts a maximum of 10 kg), making it economical and eco-friendly. Simply pull out the drawer-like drum, drop in your laundry, push one button, and walk away.

The first batch of 200 individually handmade and numbered machines were sold in the UK via an online auction in February. More auctions inEurope, USA, and Japan will follow.

1972 Datsun is World’s Fastest Electric Car

That’s right, a freaking ’72 Datsun 1200! Gas 2.0 reports that John Wayland’s street-legal racer “White Zombie” happens to be the fastest electric car in the world.

At an open race night, the White Zombie went up against souped-up Corvettes, BMW M3s and blew them away right off the starting line. It tore through a quarter-mile in 11.46 seconds, reaching a top speed of 114 MPH! It’s powered by two motors that are usually used to operate forklifts and the 60 batteries that occupy both the boot and the back seat. Equally impressive is the 20-minute charge time. Here’s a video of the vehicle in action.

I’d love to have one of these. Because I care about the environment, but more for those all-important traffic light drag races. Pulling off so fast I’ll be getting younger by the second. Oh yes, like my uncle Mike Naiker taught me.

Flying Car Takes Flight, Looks Ugly

Apparently the future is happening right now. From the looks of the Terrafugia Transition, the future’s going to be an ugly place. This fancy flying car (or driving plane if you will) took to the skies on its maiden flight earlier this month. The two-seater aircraft is an unleaded-fueled front-wheel drive vehicle that can reach 65 MPH on the ground, and is able to fly 450 miles at over 115 MPH.

Expected to retail at a street price of USD 194,000, the Terrafugia Transition is able to transform from plane to car in less than 30 seconds. Optimus Prime would be proud.

EyeBorg: Filmmaker to Put Camera in His Eye

At the age of 13, Rob Spence injured an eye in a shotgun accident. Over the years his eye deteriorated and three years ago he it removed and replacted with a prosthetic one. The 36-year old Canadian filmmaker, with the help of unemployed engineer, Kosta Grammatis, plans to make history with The Eyeborg Project – embedding a video camera and a transmitter in Spence’s prosthetic eye.

Once implemented, Spence will become a lifecaster, recording the world as he sees it. The device won’t connect to his brain so he won’t be a bionic man; it’ll be more like “little brother,” someone who’s watching and recording every move of those in his field of vision.

Add in some more jiggery-pokery, and Spence will be able to see through clothing and cheat at card games ;)

What guy’s brains are doing when they look at girlie pics

girl

Sexy calendars and pictures of topless models in tabloid newspapers really do lead men to think of women as objects, research shows.

When men are shown images of women in bikinis, the part of the brain they use when thinking about DIY tools and other objects lights up.

At the same time, the region they use to try to tune into another person’s thoughts and feelings tunes down, brain scans showed.

Ha! No great surprise there – women have known this forever – someone needs to give these scientists something real to do with their time. Read more here.

“Immaculate” Concept Makes Prostethics Sexy

With his concept entitled Immaculate, designer Hans Alexander Huseklepp explores new possibilities for prosthetic devices, where they become both functional and fashionable. Immaculate is clad in Corian plates and functions as a neurological prosthetic, connecting directly to the wearer’s central nervous system. It also features two globe joints allowing for more flexibility than a human arm would have.

Might this concept be the future of prosthetics? I can easily imagine a world where normal arms are hacked off and replaced with sexier Immaculates. I’d rather keep my arms  (I’m quite attached to them) and have a couple of these buggers grafted on, Doctor Octopus style ;)

Hail to the Chief: 1963 Corvette is Fastest Car Ever!

Forget any of the those losers we mentioned in the top 10 most expensive rides in the world. Rod Saboury’s 1963 Corvette completely blows them off the track. His 2,400-horsepower, twin-turbo-charged Corvette goes from zero to 60 mph in just one second!

Saboury’s Corvette was clocked doing 210.54 mph at a track in Ohio, where he reached the quarter-mile mark in a staggering 6.95 seconds. His car is officially recognized by Guinness World Records as the fastest street-legal car on the planet. The Shelby Super Cars Ultimate Aero, which used to hold the as the fastest production car, can travel a quarter-mile in just under 10 seconds. That shows the impressiveness of Saboury’s four-speed-transmission car which runs on normal pump gas and street tyres. It even has cup holders and electric windows.

58-year old Saboury is a full-time roofing contractor who has been designing and racing cars as a hobby for the past 40 years. Here’s a clip of him talking about his creation:
