Darth Bale and the Vader Sessions

It’s Friday we have a Star Wars double feature for you today. First off, back in 2006 YouTube user akjak took sound clips of James Earl Jones from his other movie roles and dubbed them over the Darth Vader scenes in Star Wars Episode IV. The results show Vader as a lonely, confused, depraved man going through a nervous breakdown. It’s totally made of win. Check out the Vader Sessions below.

And next up is Christian Bale’s infamous 2009 tirade mixed into Darth Vader scenes from Star Wars Episode IV. Spoiler alert: Darth Bale is less funny and after the jump.

The 100 Cheesiest Movie Quotes of All Time

5FM’s DJ Fresh has a segment on his daily show called “Cheese of the Day” where he plays some old songs which you might boogied down to back then, but will most likely cringe at when you hear them nowadays. But cheesiness, much like possessing a huge penis, is a subjective thing – whilst some might think it’s lame, others might consider it gosh darn awesome.

Now, YouTube user hh1edits has created what could arguably be the best cheese platter in the world – a selection of the 100 cheesiest movie quotes of all time. Check it out below.

“Alma” is Charming, a Little Creepy

Alma is a short film by first time director Rodrigo Blaas and his team of creative designers. A winner of several animation awards last year, Alma is a story about a little boy who gets lured into a very odd toy store. It’s charming and a little unnerving, or maybe I’m just a big girl’s blouse. Check it out below.

Find out more about the short film at almashortfilm.com.

The “Future X-Cops” Trailer is Absurdly Awesome

Fans of godawful Asian cinema may like this. Andy Lau is Hong Kong’s most commercially successful film actor, having appeared in over a 100 films. I watched just four of them – Infernal Affairs I, II, and III (these were remade by Martin Scorsese as The Departed), and The House of Flying Daggers.

And in Future X-Cops, Lau plays a cop from 2085 who travels back in time to thwart a corporation’s plan to eliminate a scientist who has created a new technology to break up the monopoly on energy resources. Seems like a humdrum plot doesn’t it? What could possibly improve it – perhaps an enemy who arm is made entirely of robotic snakes? Or maybe a baddie that has bullet-proof bat wings? Oh yes, and what about some super-cop cyborg armour? Dude, totally.

I don’t understand a word of Chinese, but I do speak the language of awesome, and the Future X-Cops trailer has left me speechless. It’s absurd, I love it!

The $20 million movie is directed by Jing Wong and will apparently release on February 25th. I doubt this will make it to South African cinemas though.

Skynet Symphonic

Remember that trippy song almost exclusively made using samples from “Disney’s Alice In Wonderland”? You’re forgiven if you don’t – the creator Fagottron had to pull the video down because he was not (and is still not) legally allowed to sample any audio and video from the movie. He then returned from hiatus with Uplar, a remix of sound bites taken from the Disney/Pixar film “Up”.

Now known as Pogo, the talented 21-year old electronic music artist from Perth, Australia has created another micro-mix of sounds, this time from one of the greatest action films of all time, James Cameron’s “Terminator 2: Judgment Day”. It is, without a doubt, insanely awesome. Check it out.

In case you missed them, catch his other remixes after the jump.

A-Team Bootleg Trailer is Action-Packed, A Little Ridiculous

From our last post on the A-Team, it’s evident that both Macross and I were quite jubilant at the thought of A-Team moving from TV to the biggest of all screens. As more info came up, we grew increasingly nervous, and now a bootleg trailer may just push us over the breaking point. Everything seemed fine until the parachuting tank scene. Have a look at the leaked trailer before the suits have it pulled down and someone gets castrated with a rusty spoon. Update: the official trailer is now available.

Faceman (Bradley Cooper), B.A (Quinton “Rampage” Jackson), Murdock (Sharlto Copley), and Hannibal (Liam Neeson) cause merry, campy mayhem on June 11th, 2010.

Update: Here are some photos from the movie. Why? I have no idea.

Update 2: Here’s the second teaser trailer filled with more of the things you like.

Cinema 2009: It’s One Large Montage

2009 certainly saw a surge in movie trailer mashups being posted on the Interwebs. Some very creative people have been slicing and dicing movie footage, and we have posted a couple of those mashups on the blog. The most recent trailer mashup we loved was from YouTube user vadoskincheg who skillfully spliced 50 movie previews together to create one insanely action-filled trailer, Trailer Cut – Volume 1.

Now it seems another movie-loving YouTuber with an equally unpronounceable name – keesvdijkhuizen – has created a tribute to the movies of 2009. One year, 342 movies, and 12 months of hard work have gone into the seven minutes that make up Cinema 2009. Have a look at the montage below.

And if you’re so inclined have a look at Film School Reject’s list of top movies of 2009. I think you’ll be pretty happy with their number one pick ;-)

Let us know your favourite picks from 2009 in the comments below.
