The 200 Greatest Movie Insults of All Time

In June 2010, Pajiba.com released a hilarous video created by their British video editor, Harry Hanrahan. “The 100 Greatest Movie Insults of All Time” turned out to be their best post of the year, getting over five million views thus far.

Just the other day, Pajiba released a follow-up to that video including the zingers that didn’t make it into the original video and other omissions pointed out by their readers and other netizens. If you haven’t seen them, the enjoy a double dose of the greatest movie insults of all time. I don’t think I need to warn you about the strong language used in the compilations. Check out both clips below.

Anger is Illogical

YouTube user OneMinuteGalactica combines audio from old educational films with visuals from Star Trek to create a nerdy instructional film where Paul (played by Spock) and Pete (played by Captain Kirk) learn some important interpersonal skills. Check out “Anger is Illogical” below.

There are a few more of these spoof educational films including one in which Indiana Jones hilariously learns about formal etiquette at dinner parties and Clark Kent gets schooled on safety in the office. See those after the jump.

Day Jobs: Fantastically Fictional Business Cards

I used to have business cards until the austerity measures hit. But if I ever were to get them again, I’d certainly like designer Fernando Reza to design mine. In a similar vein to Mikko Vartio’s mock websites, Reza creates fantastic business cards for employees of fictional businesses from popular movies, TV series, and video games. There are business cards for the discerning guy selling Quentin Tarantino’s preferred brand of cigarettes, a memory retrieval expert from Massive Dynamic, and even one for a Dharma Initiative account exec, although I’d be worried about his job security.

See Reza’s “Day Jobs” series of business cards after the jump.

Samurai Star Wars!

In his series “Samurai Wars” artist Steve Bialik imagines some of the classic Star Wars character as if they existed in 17th century Fuedal Japan. The character portraits are reportedly in the style of ukiyo-e, a genre of woodblock prints, of which the most famous that I know of is The Great Wave by Katsushika Hokusai (although he created his masterpiece in the mid 1800s).

Bialik imagines Han Solo as a deadly samurai and his acquaintance Chewie looks suspiciously like an ouni, which according to Japanese folklore is a an extremely hairy mountain hag with a mouth that goes from ear to ear. Leia takes the guise of a beautiful geisha and Obi Wan is a sage, lightsaber-wielding monk. Have a look at his Samurai Wars series after the cut.

Playboy’s Titillating Tribute to Tron

I know, it was the Tron bit that brought you here wasn’t it? It’s like how I buy Playboy magazine for the impeccably-worded discourse. Speaking of the gentleman’s magazine, you may enjoy this little clip. Playmates Irina Voronina (the blonde I believe) and Sasckya Porto participate in Playboy’s rather risque tribute to the goodness of Tron. It comes complete with light cycles, neon lights, and smatterings of nudity. Check it out below.

Playboy has also produced some images to accompany their video, have a gawk at those after the jump. I’ve kindly obscured the naughty bits with dainty prawns so you won’t get into trouble if you’re viewing this at work. How nice am I?

Real Steel

Looks like 2011 is going to be the year of the mechs, with the third installment of Transformers and now Hugh Jackman’s Real Steel.

Jackman plays Charlie Kenton, a washed-up fighter who lost his chance at a title when 2000-pound, 8-foot-tall steel robots took over the ring. Now nothing but a small-time promoter, Charlie earns just enough money piecing together low-end bots from scrap metal to get from one underground boxing venue to the next.

Adapted from a short story “Steel” by Richard Matheson, the author who gave us “I Am Legend” and “What Dreams May Come”. Directed by Shawn Levy who gave us “Date Night” and the “Night at the Museum” films. Not exactly brilliant but we can hope he delivers here. It is set for release on the 7 October 2011.

Here’s the trailer, let us know what you think.

Transformers: Dark of the Moon

Well it’s out and, as always, the teaser gets you pumped only to be disappointed by the feature. Transformers: Dark of the Moon will be rather different seeing that the writing duo of Roberto Orci & Alex Kurtzman did not pen this installment. And most importantly high school skank, Megan Fox was not cast. However Shia LeBeouf is :reallypissed:

Set for release on the 1 July 2011.

Watch for yourselves and let us know what you think. I’ll be happy to find out who the Transformer is, that’s shown at the end.

The A to Z of Star Wars

If you liked Jess Bradley’s rather odd alphabet, you might enjoy this themed one too.

When illustrators Brandon Peat and his wife Emma were expecting their first child they needed to decorate their baby’s room. Playing to their strengths they decided to create an illustrated alphabet from a galaxy far, far away. They based in on the characters from a beloved space opera, Star Wars.

Have a look at their super-cute alphabet after the jump.

Get Away From Her, You 010000100100100101010100!

OK, you got me, you clever reader you. The title isn’t complete. It’s meant to be 0100001001001001010101000100001101001000 but what is a couple of ones and zeros between friends? Being that you’re so clever you have also deduced that the clip you are about to see mashes the climactic scene from Aliens together with the aesthetics of TRON. It’s as awesome as it sounds. Check it out below.

This mashup was created by VFX dude Benni Diez from Germany for an annual film marathon, the Butt-Numb-A-Thon hosted by Harry Knowles the founder of Ain’t it Cool News. It was picked as winning entry by Knowles earlier this week.

Have a look at some of the other TRON-ified entries after the jump.

Neill Blomkamp Mystery Teaser

Awesome District 9 director Neill Blomkamp seems to have secreted a mysterious trailer into the latest iPad issue of Wired Magazine. We may not have an iPad but thankfully we have the Internet, and while the the teaser is not so secret anymore, the happenings in the clip are certainly inexplicable to us. In the 1-minute teaser, shaky handicam footage shows two lads coming upon a hideous dead alien creature that seems to have been discarded along the side of a dirt road. The thing has a stamp on it perhaps like a grading system one would use for edible meat. Check out the creepy teaser below.

Could this be the teaser to his latest film? We fokken hope so.
