We Review: The Legend of Zelda: Tri-Force Heroes

The newest game in the Legend of Zelda series, subtitled Tri-Force Heroes, is the eighteenth game in the series since its inception 29 years ago. Link has come a long way since that first adventure (well, they’re all different incarnations of Link, really), and now we have three Link characters all playing cooperatively together in the same adventure. Does it work well? I don my green Hylian garb, grab my bow, bombs, boomerangs, (Ed: And my axe!) and master sword, and head out into the Drablands to see what’s up.

We Review: Project Zero: Maiden of Black Water

Project Zero (called Fatal Frame in the US), is a survival horror game series based on the concept of exorcising ghosts by using a device called the Camera Obscura. Think Ghostbusters armed with ancient cameras, just WAY more terrifying. The series is almost fifteen years old now, and Maiden of Black Water is the 5th game in the main series. A number of years back, we got a chance to review the Wii version of Project Zero 2, so it’s interesting to see how far forward the series has come since then. And since it’s the month for scary things… come, take my disembodied hand and let me tell you a tale of spine-chilling terror.

We Review: The Witcher 3: Hearts of Stone

When we reviewed the Witcher 3: Wild Hunt earlier this year, we proclaimed it one of the best RPGs in existence. We still stand by that opinion, but if you’ve drunk the last drops that the cup of the Witcher 3 can hold, and find you’re still not sated, then good news! There’s a nice, big expansion pack for the game out now called Hearts of Stone. Should you play it? Shouldn’t you? Well, I played it to find out.

Hands up those of you wanted a game that felt like Firefly and played like a cross between Star Control II, the original Elite, with bits of Assassin’s Creed: Black Flag’s naval combat and Mass Effect’s star system navigation. Well then! Have I got a game for you. Read on and find out why Rebel Galaxy is one of the best things to happen to space since the Hubble Telescope.

We Review: Animal Crossing: Happy Home Designer

The last Animal Crossing game, New Leaf (reviewed over here), put you in charge of running the whole town, and the game was a remarkable success, selling well over 7 million copies. The newest Animal Crossing game takes a vastly different strategy. Instead of putting you in charge of running the town, you’re now in charge of…interior design. I grab my wallpaper paste, decorator’s handbook, and keen eye for making sure the drapes match to bring you this review.

We Review: Tearaway: Unfolded

Tearaway Unfolded is a re-master of the the PS Vita game, Tearaway. In the original, you use the Vita’s unique controls to manipulate the world around the character, making things move, bounce, and come to life. The game obviously had to be remapped to better fit the DualShock 4, so let’s cut and snip and pull and curl to find out how the new game works.

We Review: Super Mario Maker

The original Super Mario Bros. came out 30 years ago. Think on that: for some of you, Mario has been a constant: always there, always playable, and always saving a princess. The game has been through seven generations of video game consoles and more besides, and now Nintendo is giving you the chance to take control of the level design, and create the most evil, messed up platform hell ever created. Or a fun joyride–it’s your choice. If you’ve not yet heard of Super Mario Maker, then perhaps it’s time to sit up and pay attention.
