Play This: GOBTRON

It’s Friday and rather than being a hapless cubicle worker I choose to take the form of a cute armless, legless monster – the legendary GOBTRON.

Enemies are after me and I must use my slimy snot to fight them off. Absorbing their tasty DNA allows me to upgrade to a more deadlier being.

Play GOBTRON at Kongregate.

Play This: Guess-the-google

It’s almost the weekend, baby. If you can’t drink at the office, you might as well count down the hours by avoiding work as much as possible.

I’ve got just the time-waster for you. Guess-the-google is a guessing game where you are presented with a matrix of 20 images from Google. There is a single keyword that relates to these images and you need to guess that word as quick as you can. You can guess multiple times in the allotted 20 seconds. There are 10 rounds per game.

I scored 323. Today’s high score is 385.

Play Guess-the-google and let us know you scored.

Play This: Fragger

In a bid to get away from the boring outdoor sports like football and rugby, Fragger tasks you with terminating your enemies with extreme prejudice. There is no story to the game, so your enemies could be anyone you see fit – bullies from your childhood, ex-partners, or even members of a certain political party’s youth league ;-)

In each level you have a set amount of grenades to play with and as the levels progress, certain puzzle elements are added to the mix.

It’s a great day to blow people up. Play Fragger at Kongregate.

Your Shot at Fame: World Mouse Clicking Championship

Fancy yourself as clicker? Do people call you the King of Click? Well then my friend, fame is just a couple of clicks away! The Universal Record Database is running the World Mouse Clicking Competition – a throroughly useless game that records the most mouse clicks done in 10 seconds.

C. Williams from Fremont, New Hampshire, was the first to click his way to notoriety with 104 clicks in the allotted 10 seconds, a new world record at the time. Two days later, on June 22d, Ben Hughes from Great Manchester, England topped that score with a smashing 121 clicks!

If you’ve got the talent head over to the official World Mouse Clicking Competition site and give it a try. Limp clickers need not apply.

I couldn’t get more than 68 clicks. How did you do?

Magneboy and the Laws of Attraction

The only reason I would stop playing today’s timewaster is this one – to tell you about it ;-) Created by UK-based game house Nitrome, Magneboy is an sliding-block puzzler where you play as an uber-cute clockwork robot who uses its powers of magnetism to cross chasms, create bridges, and shuffle past various obstacles, ultimately to get to the end of each level.

I don’t think it was designed to be difficult – I managed to get to level 26 without too much trouble. Considering that a dead flea has a better sense of direction than I do, it’s safe to say that the learning curve here isn’t too steep. Great music and a retro pixel art design complete the really cool package that Magneboy is.

Play the 50 levels of awesomeness at Nitrome and let us know how you got along.

Play This: Use Boxmen

I have a problem with procrastination, but I think it’s something I can sort out later. In the meantime, here’s a neat pluzzle platformer Use Boxmen you are a strange, superior figure who must guide a boxman through each level to collect the furniture boxes. To make the job easier you can cast clones to do tasks for you – the clones are really “special” so they’ll copy whatever you do. A little patience and logical thinking is required here.

Flash Game Friday: Star Beacons

It’s Friday and I don’t think I need to tell you what that means. Today’s timewaster, Star Beacons, takes you to outer space where an evil armada has invaded a peaceful water planet and shattered its sun into many star pieces. And you, the intrepid hero must scour the nether regions of space to retrieve the fragments.

You are positioned at the top of the screen and your objective in each level is to clear all the stars pieces by hitting them with your balls.

Midweek Timewaster: Stackle

After popping some Degoran to combat a cold, I can barely feel my nose much less my brain so my decision making might be a little off-kilter. Today’s first post was a tough face-off between Demi Moore’s hairy bush and a Tetris-inspired timewaster, and I think I made the right decision that will benefit you, our dear readers.

Tetris meets Jenga in the physics puzzle game, Stackle. You need to grab blocks from the tower and stack them on the top to reach as high as you can but take care not to let the whole thing topple over. It’s a simple, addictive premise but can be deceptively difficult if you’re a fly-by-night builder.

Play Stackle at Newgrounds and let us know how many points you scored.

BONUS: Demi Moore’s bush can be seen here – be warned, what has been seen cannot be unseen. It is also NSFW unless you don’t mind people getting the wrong idea.

Play Wooden Path

Wednesday at work. Could I think of a better way to spend the day? Why yes, I think I can.

Wooden Path is an isometric block-shifting puzzle game that tasks you with creating a wooden bridge to cross a river. You need to position the wooden blocks together so that they make an unbroken path from one river bank to the other. Naturally bridge building is not as easy as it used to be and there are a variety of blocks of different types and sizes scattered around the level to impede your progress.

Keen spacial skills and patience will prove helpful here. Unfortunately when those traits were being given out, I was standing in line for shockingly good looks. Damn!

Play Wooden Path at Kongregate.
