This labour of love took Chad and Linnea Blakley three years to create. What started out as a summer job in Abisko National Park, Sweden quickly turned into an obsession, and Chad found employment at the park’s Aurora Sky Station. Hunting for the phenomenal light display became his day (and night) job.
His time-lapse video of the swirling aurorae over the Swedish skies is composed from 2,000 hours of footage and is free from any type of colour correction. Have a look at the Lights Over Lapland below.

It seems to my mind that there are fewer decent RPGs in the console world than there used to be, but a new Wii game, Pandora’s Tower, could be challenging that. Is there still life in both the Wii and the RPG genre? I traipsed around the Towers to find out.
The photos of Don Pettit are literally out of this world. The NASA astronaut spends a considerable amount of time aboard the International Space Station, so much so that he has even constructed a device specifically for taking photos of the Earth’s surface from the satellite.
While star trail photography is commonplace, it’d be a treat to see them from a different vantage point and Pettit is happy to oblige. He explains the technique he used to create his ISS Star Trails:
My star trail images are made by taking a time exposure of about 10 to 15 minutes. However, with modern digital cameras, 30 seconds is about the longest exposure possible, due to electronic detector noise effectively snowing out the image. To achieve the longer exposures I do what many amateur astronomers do. I take multiple 30-second exposures, then ‘stack’ them using imaging software, thus producing the longer exposure.

All hail the king. Breaking Bad makes its triumphant return in July for the fifth and final season. From images of Walt as Nyan Cat in Breaking GIFs to all manner of amazing artworks, it’s clear that the show has great chemistry with its viewers.

Back in ’06, Resistance: Fall of Man was one of the very first games to be released for the debut of the PlayStation 3. The series went on to see a trilogy and even spawned a spin-off on the PlayStation Portable. And now, Resistance: Burning Skies has the honour of being the first twin-stick shooter on a handheld console. It’s an unenviable task of going first, especially considering veteran Resistance developer Insomniac Games wasn’t leading the charge. Instead, the duties went to Nihilistic Software, a developer notable for their middling effort on PlayStation Move Heroes.
So, does Resistance: Burning Skies for PlayStation Vita not only distil all the things we’ve come to know and like from the Resistance universe but also make good use of the handheld’s distinct features? I head to the front lines to find out.

The Canadian painter creates scenes that look as if they were photographed or computer-generated. Instead, he painstakingly applies acrylic paints to canvas to create the illusion. Have a look at some of his incredible, intricate paintings after the jump.

You could also get a lemon meringue pie if you get the ingredients wrong, but mostly you’ll get Awesomenauts. I took to the battleground to see what this game was all about.
Terra Sacra means “sacred earth” in Latin. In the last six years, photographer Sean F. White travelled across all seven of our continents, to 24 countries and captured his views of ancient structures, sweepings vistas, and beautiful night skies. In his breathtaking short film, White features a collection of time-lapse sequences that he shot during his trips.
