An axe-wielding, moustachioed cop teams up with another cop who possesses a flute. Flute cop then unexpectedly turns into a dinosaur soldier, and the crime-fighting duo decides to rid the world of preposterous enemies, like Pretzel Head, who literally has a pretzel for a head. You’d think that the ideas come straight out of a child’s mind. And you’d be right. Comic book artist Ethan Nicolle was playing teams up with his 5-year old brother Malachai, to put the creative imaginings of his little brother onto paper. The results are absurd, badass, and so very awesome.
There are currently six episodes chronicling the adventures of Axe Cop. See them at http://axecop.com.

I got this in an e-mail today, and it thankfully broke the boring monotony that was creating a PowerPoint presentation (I pity the fool who has to sit through this one).
Local airline Kulula has always stood out from the crowd from their odd choice of colour, to their jetsetter ads, and the comical safety demos on the flights. This sense of humour has found its way onto livery that has been applied to their fleet of Boeing 737s.
The airplanes are covered with the Flying 101 livery that shows interesting details about the plane, such as the captain’s window which is marked as the big cheese, the fuel tanks (the go-go juice), to the loo (or mile-high club initiation chamber), and the black box (which is actually orange).
Matthew Albanese had me fooled. Mind you it I’m easily aroused duped.
The 26-year old artist creates the most spectacular realistic-looking landscapes through the use of clever photography and everyday objects. The miniature models contain an astonishing amount of detail. Consider my jaw dropped. Check out some of his “Strange Worlds” series after the jump.
They don’t make them like they used to. Until now – well, since 2006, but knowing my penchant for catching things late, I only became aware of this most awesome artist today.
The fantastic works of Tyler Stout, an illustrator from Washington D.C., take you back to a time when film posters were considered valuable collectibles, worth framing and putting up on your wall. See some of his rad posters after the jump.
This really made the day more bearable. It’s a music video for the single “Fot I Hose” by Norwegian electro-pop troupe, Casiokids. It’s one of those funky indie-dance tunes that you cant really get out of your head after hear it. This is a good thing. Check out “Fot I Hose” below.

Colour me confused. From the minds of Ian Kibbey and Corey Creasey under the moniker Terri Timely, comes a rather bizarre short film, Synesthesia.
According to Wikipedia, synesthesia is a “neurologically-based condition in which stimulation of one sensory or cognitive pathway leads to automatic, involuntary experiences in a second sensory or cognitive pathway.” and in the short, this concept is visualized through a scene of a family going about their daily lives. The schoolboys listen to their food whilst his mother prepares a tasty meal by cutting up a recipe and baking it in the oven, and the father relaxes by watching some of his favourite music. Things really getting interesting when the speakers start shooting out cats…
If there was ever one TV series I wish would be brought back, it has to be Rome. For the two short seasons it was on for, Rome was a masterpiece to watch with the most elaborate sets and costumes, bloody violence, bared breasts, and deceit around every corner. Unfortunately, extremely high production costs doomed a fantastic series that had so much history to tell.
I had flashbacks to that beloved series when I saw the trailer to the upcoming tales about a Roman gladiator who becomes the leader of a major slave uprising against the Roman Republic. Here’s the synopsis to Spartacus: Blood and Sand.
Betrayed by his country. Beaten into slavery. Reborn as a warrior. Spartacus: Blood and Sand is a graphic and visceral account of Rome’s most famous gladiator. When he’s separated from the love of his life, Spartacus is forced into the gruesome and bloodthirsty arena, where a grisly death is primetime entertainment. Spartacus must fight for survival, befriend his enemies and play politics in this new world of corruption, violence, sex and fame. He’ll be seduced by power and tormented by vengeance. But his passion will give him the strength to prevail over every obstacle, in this modern and uninhibited tale of death, honor and endurance.
Have a look at the rollicking trailer below and let us know what you think.
Spartacus is played by Australian actor, Andy Whitfield. Lucy Lawless (Battlestar Galactica) plays Lucretia, who along with her husband Batiatus (played by John Hannah), own the slave. Spartacus: Blood and Sand is set to premiere January 22nd, 2010 in the United States, and a second season has already been confirmed. No word if/when it will get to South Africa.
Remember that trippy song almost exclusively made using samples from “Disney’s Alice In Wonderland”? You’re forgiven if you don’t – the creator Fagottron had to pull the video down because he was not (and is still not) legally allowed to sample any audio and video from the movie. He then returned from hiatus with Uplar, a remix of sound bites taken from the Disney/Pixar film “Up”.
Now known as Pogo, the talented 21-year old electronic music artist from Perth, Australia has created another micro-mix of sounds, this time from one of the greatest action films of all time, James Cameron’s “Terminator 2: Judgment Day”. It is, without a doubt, insanely awesome. Check it out.

Jason Wood is an ex-con and through all the good and the bad, his best friend has been by his side. Last minutes with ODEN is a touching story about Jason’s final farewell to that best friend – a three-legged dog named Oden.
Oden’s journey is about to come to an end, and this emotionally-charged six minute documentary directed by Eliot Rausch, follows Jason’s last minutes with Oden before the dog is euthanised. It’s teary stuff man.
Jason, I may not know you, but I know what you must have felt, as would a lot of pet owners out there. I went through the very same heart-breaking, tear-filled moments when we had to put down FurryLuce’s most beloved cat, Dorian Gray.
He suffered from Acute Renal Failure, and we tried all manner of meds to prolong his life, but it was a vain attempt at avoiding the inevitable. I’m sure Dorian knew he was going to die and instead of making a fuss, he found a quiet place in the house to sleep, waiting for the darkness. I think we tend to suffer more when our pets are sick…
In the late 1780’s unorthodox French artist Joseph Ducreux painted a portrait of himself pointing towards the viewer with a smug “I fucked your girlfriend” type of grin. Whilst the portrait itself hangs in the Louvre, the image has certainly done the rounds on the Internet. In late 2009, it gave rise to a popular meme where an “archaic reinterpretation” of popular rap lyrics were superimposed over the artwork. And it has resulted in great lulz.
