Beautifully Minimalist Movie Posters by Hexagonall

You may recall the minimalist TV show posters that we featured on the blog back in February (refresh your memory). If you liked that, it may have led you to the Saul-Bass inspired TV title sequences created by Vimeo user Hexagonall (view those intros).

Hexagonall has come under the spotlight again, this time with a selection of minimalist movie posters where he uses very simple elements to capture the essence of that movie. It’s done really well. Have a look at a small selection after the jump.

Who Let The Dogs Out?

Aside from our screen printing escapade and attempt at baking, I know we haven’t posted any personal stuff on the blog but it’s a lazy Sunday evening and I’m sitting here in my favourite holey underpants so it’s a good a time as any.

We try to take our puppies, Mina (Big Min is her gangsta name) and Panya (Lil’ Pun) for walks as regularly as possible, but we’ve been a little bad this week. They like walking on the mountain and scampering around in Tokai forest, but they absolutely love the beach – there’s so much seaweed and crab shells to eat and throw up later, charming I know.

Earlier this morning we bundled the puppies into the car and headed off to Sunset Beach for a little walk. Two hours later, after chasing balls, meeting everyone on the beach (Panya is such an attention-seeker), and with bellies full of sand, the tired mutts were home. We took some happy snaps of the walkabout and thought we’d share them with you. Find them after the jump. Panya is the grey one.

Spectacular Solar Images and Videos

On February 11th, NASA launched the the Solar Dynamics Observatory (SDO), a spacecraft designed to study our sun. It’s on a five-year mission gathering data that will aid scientists to better understand how solar activity affects our climate and our lives. The highly advanced SDO is said to take images that are 10 times better than current HD TVs and will be sending back a whopping 1.5 terabytes of data back to Earth each and every each day!

The solar-observing spacecraft has been beaming back early images and videos and they look quite amazing. Have a look for yourself, after the jump.

The Big Lebowski vs MacGyver

We’ve covered a few great mashups in the past and we may have stuck Internet gold yet again. YouTuber beckspacering has mashed together the opening theme music of one of TV’s most resourceful heroes and clips of film’s most laid-back slacker. For your viewing pleasure here is the MacGyver/Big Lebowski mashup, The DudeGyver.

Brilliant stuff. But is it the ultimate mashup? Maybe not – my money’s still on Han Solo, P.I. although Lebowski, P.I. is growing on me.

The Tale of How

If you have a couple of free minutes today, let it be spent watching The Tale of How. Created by The Blackheart Gang back in ’06, the dark tale is about a flock of dodos living in a tree – and not this any ordinary tree mind you, this one is in the back of OTTO, the tentacled tyrant of the Indian Ocean. OTTO passes his time on the high seas by feasting on the dodos. The flightless birds send messages for help, but no one ever comes, and all seemed lost, until a visitor from the west lends a helping hand.

Wasn’t that superb? It took The Blackheart Gang nine long months of part-time work to create the tale (the making of is here) which happens to be the second part of the Dodo Trilogy. The other two works, The Tale of Then and The Tale of When are still to be made.

You might recognize one of the three members of The Blackheart Gang as Markus Wormstorm from the afro-electro duo, Sweat.X. See more about the creative bunch on their official website.

We Review: God of War III

My god this review is horribly late. It’s so late that even the fast-talking reviewer Yahtzee famous for his tardiness has gotten his done. I’d tell you it’s worth the wait, but the last time a waitress told me that at an Indian restaurant, my food was far from tasty.

By now, you’ve probably played-finished-loved it so whilst you’re here, feel free to read on and compare notes with us. However, if this is your first time hearing about it, join us as we ride along with the Ghost of Sparta in his quest for vengeance in God of War III.

The full review is after the jump.

Terry Crews Adds Absurdity to Old Spice

Of late I’ve been loving the Old Spice ads. The Manmercials were hilariously funny and totally convinced me that men shouldn’t smell like sunsets and baby powder. A man on a horse told me that.

The latest ads for Old Spice’s new Odor Blocker body wash are equally funny, but with added absurdity care of muscle-bound actor Terry Crews (The Expendables, Everybody Hates Chris). Crews waxes lyrical about the product amid talking abdominals, building kicks, and Pa-pa-pa-pa-pa-power!

Check out all the LOLworthy ads after the jump.
