Auditorium – A Game of Music and Light

Auditorium is a fantastic, relaxing puzzle game composed of music and light. In each level, you need to manipulate the flow of light towards what look like equalizer boxes. You can move the directional buttons, and click and drag the edges to herd the light. When  all the boxes are full, you proceed to the next level.

Auditorium is a really intriguing and addictive multisensory experience — part puzzle game, part light sculpture, part musical instrument – Peter Cohen, Macworld

Amazing Aurora Borealis

James Pugsley’s site Astronomy North contains some amazing photos of the Aurora Borealis.

Yellowknife – Northwest Territories

This photo was taken in October of 2008 along the Ingraham Trail near Yellowknife using a Canon 5D, 400 ISO, Aper 2.8 for 13 seconds. The circular formation on the left indicates that a bombardment of particles is about to begin.

An Exceptionally Tall Curtain

An exceptionally tall curtain above an Ingraham Trail cabin. The tallest auroras are known to reach low-Earth orbit satellites 600km overhead. The bottom edge of this aurora is approximately 100 km above the surface.

A classic Yellowknife Performance

A classic Yellowknife performance, with all of the celestial characters. As the moon rises in the East, the magnetic field lights up over Yellowknife’s famous houseboats.

Montage Time – Inspirational Movie Speeches

The people at Overthinking It are on a mission to save the US economy with a 2-minute montage of 40 inspirational speeches from the movies. Good luck with that.

Click play to watch the video or go to Youtube.

This is the transcript:

Shame on you. This could be the greatest night of our lives, but you’re going to let it be the worst. And I guarantee a week won’t go by in your life you won’t regret walking out, letting them get the best of you. Well, I’m not going home. We’ve come too far! And I’m going to stay right here and fight for this lost cause. A day may come when the courage of men fails… but it is not THIS day. The line must be drawn HERE. This far, no further! I’m not saying it’s going to be easy. You’re going to work harder than you ever worked before. But that’s fine, we’ll just get tougher with it! If a person grits his teeth and shows real determination, failure is not an option. That’s how winning is done! Believe me when I say we can break this army here, and win just one for the Gipper. But I say to you what every warrior has known since the beginning of time: you’ve got to get mad. I mean plum mad dog mean. If you would be free men, then you must fight to fulfill that promise! Let us cut out their living guts one inch at a time, and they will know what we can do! Let no man forget how menacing we are. We are lions! You’re like a big bear, man! This is YOUR time! Seize the day, never surrender, victory or death… that’s the Chicago Way! Who’s with me? Clap! Clap! Don’t let Tink die! Clap! Alright! Let’s fly! And gentlemen in England now abed shall know my name is the Lord when I tell our enemies that they may take our lives, but they’ll never take our Independence Day!

Erwin Wurm, the Chubby Maker

I don’t know about you but I quite like a little “junk in the trunk”.

Weird Austrian Erwin Wurm seems to have a similar view, but for motor vehicles. By plumping up an existing car with styrofoam and fiberglass, his “Fat Car” is a  chubby version of the original sporty model. He wants to offer a sharp criticism of our current value system, as the advertising world demands us to stay thin but to consume more and more – via Geekologie.

The Odd Works of Candice Tripp

According to her bio, Candice Tripp was born a man in South Africa, but left the country to become a minger and spoon designer in the UK. Her art was cultivated in a home for orphaned wolves and seeks to capture the unity in ideologies between Star Trek’s Spock and the modern musical philosopher, Enya.

Her 24 year old’s art is altogether quite odd. See below – click the images to see them bigger.

One Year in 40 Seconds

The view out of my computer room looks straight into the neighbour’s kitchen, where a married couple delight in their monthly naked cooking sessions. It’s not a pleasant sight. Living far away from the concrete jungle, Eirik Solheim had a much better view out of his window, and in 2005 he decided to shoot images out of his window, for one year. He did this again at the end of 2007 but in much better quality.

What you see below is a 40-second clip of those photos. It’s pretty stunning if you like seeing trees change colour, which I do :)

Read about the process at Eirik’s website – via Neatorama.
