You’ll never be better than Commander Shepard

Mass Effect 2 was one of the best video games to have appeared during 2010. One of the reasons, I suspect, is because of its protagonist, Commander Shepard, possibly one of the most badass people in the history of sci-fi. So it’s no wonder that there’s now a song dedicated to him (sorry, all of you who played a female version of Shepherd…you don’t get a showing!). You can watch that song, made by Youtube user MandaloreMovies, right here.

Beautiful CGI Castles

Everyone loves castles. Castles are the ultimate idea in lofty, elaborate architecture. Even better? Imaginary castles. If you don’t have to use actual bricks and cement, then neither money nor reality is any object. Some examples of beautiful, elaborate CGI castles after the jump.

Opinion: Nintendo 3DS vs Sony NGP—FIGHT!

There is nothing quite like a good, comfy war. It is what makes the world an interesting place, and there’s nothing better than a war between two competing formats. Think of all the great format wars past: VHS vs Betamax; CD vs vinyl; 8-track vs cassette; Genesis vs Super Nintendo; Playstation 2 vs Xbox vs Gamecube; HD-DVD vs Blu-Ray. We’re all naturally fascinated by battles between giants. We’ve seen this battle play out over and over, placing our bets to try and figure out in advance who the winner is going to be. Sometimes there is no clear winner. Either way, the fun is in the speculating, so we’ll dive right into the fun of the next great war of portable gaming: Nintendo 3DS vs the Sony Next Generation Portable (which currently has no official name). I swear I’ll try to keep this as civil—and unbiased—as possible. The fisticuffs follow after the jump.

Indiana Jones Explains The 2011 Egyptian Situation

In case you haven’t heard, there’s some kind of revolution going on in Egypt right now. Apparently, they feel that the current president (who has been in power for the past 30 years) is a complete bell-end. Naturally, this means all sorts of fun things like marches, rallies, demonstrations, shooting, maiming, looting, and shutting down of Internets. To put all of this into some kind of easy-to-understand perspective, Twitter user furrygirl created this delightful precis of the goings on. Full image after the jump.

We Review: Assassin’s Creed Brotherhood

It seems to be my turn to review nothing but sequels, so in that vein, Assassin’s Creed Brotherhood (not Assassin’s Creed 3—this is an interim game) is the direct sequel to Assassin’s Creed 2. When I say “direct sequel”, I mean that the story resumes quite literally seconds after the action in the previous game stopped, so I guess you could say it’s the final chapters of Assassin’s Creed 2. The biggest selling point of Brotherhood is the multiplayer aspect, but surprisingly, it’s not the biggest part of the game; Brotherhood still has a fairly chunky single player campaign. Let’s take a stab at reviewing this game, shall we? More after the jump.

We Review: Fable III

It should come as very little surprise to anyone that Lionhead Studios’ Fable 3 is the sequel to the hit game, Fable 2. It should also come as very little to no surprise that, like its predecessor, the game is an action RPG set in the land of Albion, a place filled with high adventure that’s beyond compare, magic and mystery that’s part of its history, and copious quantities of gummiberry juice potions. Find out whether this game bounces here and there and everywhere after the…jump.

We Review: James Bond 007: Blood Stone

Because of the slight lack of originality in this game, we’ve decided to inject some originality into the review. So this review will be in the form of an epic poem. The full, poetic review after the break.

We Review: Naruto Shippuden Ultimate Ninja Storm 2

If you’ve ever been a fan of anime and manga, then odds are you’ve come across Masashi Kishimoto’s Naruto at some point or another. Inevitably, a string of video games accompanies such a successful franchise, and since Naruto is a story about ninjas, these aforementioned games have a very heavy fighting bent to them. Happily, I am a huge fan of the Naruto series, so I was quite pleased to get a chance to play through one of the latest games in the series, Ultimate Ninja Storm 2.
