Blu-ray Review: Monty Python’s Life of Brian

They say a change is as good as a holiday. And Monty Python’s Life of Brian is sure to forever change your biblical view.

This controversial, satirical comedy by the Monty Python team was initially banned in Norway for fear that it may offend peoples’ religious sensibilities. In the neighboring country Sweden the film was marketed as “The film too funny to be shown in Norway.” A town in South Wales also had it banned even though it didn’t have a cinema! With those kinds of credentials, you know you’re in for a great movie.

Leave the Toilet Seat Up

crying childI’ve been trained to leave the toilet seat down, but I now questioning this decision, for good reason I think.

Livescience reports that some British doctors are advising that toilets seats should be left up as heavy wooden and ornamental toilet seat could fall down onto the penises of unsuspecting toddlers.

Doctors who have treated such “penis-crush” injuries offer the following tips:

  • Use toilet seats that fall slowly and with reduced momentum.
  • Heavier toilet seats could be banned in houses with male infants.
  • Households with male infants should consider leaving the toilet seat up after use.
  • Toddlers should be educated to hold the toilet seat up with one hand while urinating.

So there you have it. The first public service announcement from the onelargeprawn blog. Keep those toddler penises safe from harm this festive period ;)

The sex-starved boffins from the the Zurich School of Applied Sciences have compiled a 72-second video simulation showing the flight path of every commercial flight in the world over a 24-hour period. Compiling the data was surprisingly simple as it was readily available on the Internet.

Blu-ray Review: The Devil’s Own

You know him; you love him; now see that man Brad Pitt in this slow-paced moralistic drama.

The Devil’s Own was directed by the late Alan J. Pakula (April 7th 1928 – November 19th 1998) and tells the story of Frankie McGuire (Brad Pitt) who at a very young age witnesses his father’s brutal execution by masked gunmen. He joins the IRA, and soon becomes one of the most dangerous men in Ireland. McGuire then travels to New York on a mission. Through an IRA sympathizer, he gets a fake green card and arranges to stay with Tom O’Meara (Harrison Ford), an honest cop and family man.

More dodgy deals after the jump.

Review: Motorstorm Pacific Rift

Motorstorm Pacific Rift Box ArtThe original Motorstorm was the first game I experienced on the PS3, and I played it to death. The graphics were fantastic, and the gameplay, despite being difficult to master at times, appealed to my inner madman.

Not many other racing games (with the notable exception of Burnout Paradise) have made me feel exhilarated and charged up to win as Motorstorm did, and 20 months later, I’m glad to say that the sequel, MotorStorm: Pacific Rift, not only re-awakens the old feelings, but cranks them into overdrive.

Brutal off-road racing is back with a vengeance! In Pacific Rift, the festival has moved from the deep canyons and spires of Monument Valley to a previously unexplored island rich in lush forests, crystal-clear waterfalls, pristine beaches, smoking hot volcano fields, and mist-covered mountain peaks.
