We Review: Remember Me

Neo-Paris. 2084. Privacy is a thing of the past, and personal memories are commodities that can be bought and sold in the open. Frighteningly, they can be stolen, or even altered by memory hunters. Not only are they able to remix memories, they are also elite fighters who can kick the cheese out of your croissant in 50,000 ways. Parisian game developers, DONTNOD Entertainment, attempt to connect these intriguing ideas together in their début action-adventure beat-em-up, Remember Me. Are the memories worth it, or should we be asking for a mind wipe?

Bloody Norah! This Jet Bicycle is Ridiculous

You thought Wile E. Coyote was crazy for attaching a pair of ACME rocket-powered roller skates to his feet. Colin Furze is a tad bonkers too. A plumber by day, hobbyist inventor by night, Furze had a few screws loose when he created “Norah”. Using pulsejet technology, the mad inventor fitted the pulse jet onto a rickety ladies bicycle, transforming Norah into one hot bike! Watch as the world’s most dangerous bicycle fires into action and blasts the maniacally-laughing Furze down the road at 50 mph.

Mean Streets: Russian Dashcams Show Escapes in the Nick of Time

Driving in Russia can be hazardous and so commonplace that a separate genre of YouTube clips has sprung forth. Some are horrible car accidents and you don’t want to look, but you know you’re going to. On a positive note, in this (still terrifying) dashcam compilation, the majority of the people managed to escape death just in the nick of time.

We Review: Metro: Last Light

Kiev, Ukraine. A crew works towards their goal. They don’t have the best resources, but they make do. It’s cold.  their workspace is cramped. And the heating hasn’t been on for a while. But their creative fire won’t be snuffed out. If that sounds like an underdog story from a video game, you might be surprised to find it’s closer to fact than fiction.

Ukrainian developer 4A games toiled through delays, the bankruptcy of their publisher THQ, and some rather unfavourable development conditions  to bring their creation into the light, so to speak. Their triumph, Metro: Last Light, is the sequel to their previous effort, Metro 2033, an FPS set in the claustrophobic metro systems of a future, post-apocalyptic Moscow. PS3 gamers were kept in the dark, as Metro 2033 was released only on the Xbox 360 and PC, but get to enter the metro for the very first time. Is the trip worth it, or should Metro: Last Light be shunned to a dark corner? My review continues after the jump.

It’s a Twerking Bonanza in Major Lazer’s New Music Video

Butts, butts everywhere.

The wibbly wobbly twerk dance takes centre stage in the music video to Major Lazer’s new single. If you’ve seen any Major Lazer music videos before, the alarms bells should already be ringing. Prepare for more Eric Wareheim absurdity as behinds get blown up in Bubble Butt. NSFW, obviously.

Not that I was paying attention, but the track features the singing talents of Bruno Mars, Mystic, and Tyga.

Daft Punk’s “Get Lucky” Gets Some Chiptune Love

We rub a Mexican monkey.

Daft Punk’s lead single from their album Random Access Memories has received a lot of love from the Internet. The Daft Train got rolling, the late king of pop made an appearance on the track, and there was an incident with some chickens.

“Get Lucky” just got some 8-bit loving in this wonderful chiptune cover by YouTube user, Floating Point.

Watch This Amazing Oil-Painted Music Video

If you loved the stop-motion music video to Shugo Tokumaru’s Katachi (refresh your memory), chances are you’ll appreciate the immense effort that went into creating Blown Minded.

Carine Khalifé is a French visual artist and a dab hand at animation, painting, and photography. She uses those skills to create this amazing stop-motion music video for Canadian indie band, Young Galaxy.

Like sand artist Kseniya Simonova, Khalifé also uses a light box to bring her artwork to life. Working in a dark room, she paints with oils on the glass atop the light box while an overhead camera captures her paintings, frame by painstaking frame. The textures and brush movements in the resulting stop-motion music video are beautiful to behold. Check out Blown Minded below.

When death is near and you’re about shuffle off this mortal coil, what do you think you final words would be? George Washington’s last words were an accepting “‘Tis well.” while American Civil War general John Sedgwick never saw it coming when he said, “They couldn’t hit an elephant at this distance.” And being his natural witty self, Oscar Wilde supposedly said, “My wallpaper and I are fighting a duel to the death. MC Frontalot: I’ll Form The Head

When it came to the Voltron Force, Commander Keith was the star of the show. In an alternate universe where the lions have been replaced with robotic space rhinoceri, the pecking order isn’t quite set.

While the planet is set upon by a malevolent galactic nematode, the colour-coded pilots are fighting another war. Watch as the over-qualified geek, the jack-ass jock, and stoic leader-in-waiting wax lyrical on why they should be the one in charge.

BioShock Infinite Characters as Cats
