We Review: Grand Theft Auto V

I have a confession to make: despite being a gamer for so many of my years, I’ve never played a Grand Theft Auto game before now. So you’re getting the view of the game from the fresh eyes of someone who has never before visited San Andreas, or Chinatown, or Liberty City. Isn’t this exciting? So let’s see the sights of the city of Los Santos as I give you the grand tour of Grand Theft Auto V. Hope you’re strapped in tightly and sitting comfortably on your botty, because this ride is going to be a little…bumpy.

We Review: Diablo 3 (console version)

The PC version of Diablo 3 was released all the way back in May this year, and now finally the console version has made its appearance. In the game, you once again take on the Lords of Hell in an effort to bring some measure of peace to the world. I don my adventuring gear, take up my sword, my bow, and MY AXE to see what it took to slay evil once and for all.

We Review: The Bureau: XCOM Declassified

Late last year, we reviewed the first reboot of the XCOM series of games, titled Enemy Unknown. The prequel to this game, The Bureau: XCOM Declassified, while not a turn-based game, still retains some of the strategy elements while bringing you to the battlefield as a third-person shooter. Think XCOM meets Gears of War meets Mass Effect, all set in the early 1960s. Intrigued? Then read on.

We Review: Europa Universalis IV

Europa Universalis IV from Paradox Interactive is the latest instalment of the grand strategy series, and adds many huge improvements to an already impressive game. I try my hand at world conquest to see if this is the game that makes kings, or the kind that makes kings turn in their graves.

We Review: Le Tour de France 2013

Ah! The excitement, the joy, the thrill of the sheer speed as you whizz around the track and…hold on. Prawn Prime has a note for me here. Let’s see…NOT a motorized vehicle game? Bicycles? Seriously? Man with one testicle?

Oh. Ok. Let me start again.

Ah! The beauty of the French countryside, the wind blowing through your helmet, and the introduction of such nouns as “peloton”. This is the 2013 edition of Le Tour de France, the video game. I guess there’s a lot less speed here than I’d hoped, but I’m nothing if ever the video game optimist. I grab my bagels and baguettes and go see whether the video game version of the Tour is anything like the real Tour.

We Review: Deadpool

Deadpool is everyone’s favourite “Merc with a mouth” and all-around anti-hero. If you’re not already aware of his existence in Marvel’s X-Men universe, you’ve got a lot of catching up to do, and a lot to look forward to. In any event, Deadpool now gets his very own video game courtesy of High Moon Studios. But is Deadpool all talk and no action? Or vice versa? Or verse vica? Let’s find out.

We Review: Animal Crossing: New Leaf

The Animal Crossing series, which started in 2001 on the Gamecube, has its first outing on the 3DS as New Leaf. The game takes a number of new directions with New Leaf, with many of the decisions being put into your hands. I packed my bags and went to go stay in the new town for a while to see what being Mayor is like.

We Review: Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Gates to Infinity

Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Gates to Infinity is the latest game in the Mystery Dungeon series for the Nintendo 3DS. The basic premise of the game is that of exploring an infinite series of dungeons: the ultimate dungeon crawl game, painted with a Pokémon veneer, you might say. I take up my adventuring gear and head for the nearest dungeon entrance to see if I can find treasure.
