NOTE: This competition has ended.
Buoyed by the popularity of our last competition, I wanted to create something equally awesome for this, our latest one. I think it’s quite cool, but I’ll let you be the judge of that.
Let me break it down for you. It’s the late 15th century, and you are a happy-go-lucky chap in the beautiful city of Florence. It’s pay day and you have joined the lads at the local piazza. Whilst enjoying your drink, you notice a sultry bird a couple of tables across, and you saunter over for look. The conversation starts politely, but quickly turn flirtatious, and before you know it you’re inviting her back to your place for “a cup of tea, and a lie down”.
She has an even better idea – there’s more fun to be had at her place where her equally beautiful sister wants in on the action. There is a slight complication – her house is guarded by the most fiercest dog in all Tuscany, capable of tearing a man limb from limb in mere minutes. However, the uttering the correct password renders the mutt as meek as a lamb. Before you can ask what the password is, she stuffs a parchment into your shirt pocket, and rushes off. Scanning the parchment, you realize it is a puzzle that, once decoded, could result in a night of pleasure…
Considering the title of the post, I’m sure you have worked out that the prize is not a lusty threesome, but something much sweeter. Courtesy of Ubisoft, we’re giving away two copies of the universally acclaimed Assassin’s Creed II* (one for the PS3, and one for Xbox 360) and we’ve thrown in some kit too. To snag one of the prizes, you will need to solve a puzzle of sorts. Find all the details after the jump.
Right here are the obligatory prize photos.
To stand a chance of winning one of the prizes, we would like you to solve this crossword puzzle.
Here are the clues:
Across
3. A narrow boat used in Venice
8. The company that published Assassin’s Creed II
9. A period of great cultural change
10. A family of Florentian bankers embroiled in a 15th century murder conspiracy
Down
1. A line of video game consoles created by Sony Computer Entertainment
2. A manuscript (hand-written) book that replaced the scroll
4. A military order that was disbanded in 1312
5. The Old Italian name for a city where The Duomo is located
6. Leonardo da Vinci’s place of birth
7. A Latin word that means mind or soul
If you’d like to print the crossword out, click HERE to download the PDF version.
You’ll notice that there are seven blocks are highlighted in red. The letters in those blocks will form a word related to Assassin’s Creed II. Decode the anagram and you could win! To be entered into the draw, send an email to win@onelargeprawn.co.za with the following details:
- Name
- Contact details
- Answer
- Preferred console
The first person to email me the correct answer gets an extra two entries into the draw.
This competition runs from Friday, December 11th to midnight on Sunday, December 20th and is only open to South African residents. Terms and conditions apply.
A big thanks to Rene at Ubisoft for providing the competition prizes.
*Note that both games are promo copies – they are the full game but without the fancy packaging. You’ll still be saving yourself R700 which you can spend on your partner, or better yet, on another game! *high five*

@Azraelz: That reminds me – I am yet to finish it. I got distracted by Ratchet and Clank, which as you might know is so very awesome.
well i’ve still yet you get the game, and seeing as you guys have it already… put a good ‘word’ in for me ;-)
Hey easy, improve your chances by entering the AC II compo on PS3 Blog – it closes tomorrow.
PS: How come you’re not online anymore? Would love to get an Uncharted 2 game with you sometime.
i missed the ps3blog comp :( … not that it matters, i’ve been meaning to pick this up for a while now anyways.
i haven’t been online that much of late, but was on friday and saturday… seems like most people have gone on holiday. sigh.
i’m definitely up for some uc2… its been a while since i last had some mp fun with that. just shout, i’m always keen
It’s a good game, if a little serious. I find that Ratchet & Clank: A Crack in Time is a little more involving and hella fun. Oh, I just bought PixelJunk Shooter (R75) – by far the most enjoyable PixelJunk game I have played. It’s very addictive, and I see you have it too ;-)
Speaking of Uncharted 2, a couple of the PS3ZA lads meet every Wednesday night for a local tourney. Join us this week eh?
Yea, rach and clank are awesome! i have yet to get the new one. i am playing fallout 3 now. (when i get a chance – GF has issues)
