It’s Trailer Tuesday

I may be mediocre at most things (it’s part of my charm you see), but I’d like to think our last mega trailer blowout post was decently written. And due to popular demand* I present, for your viewing pleasure, Trailer Tuesday.

Hit the jump to see trailers for The Road, The Book of Eli, Black Dynamite, The Boondock Saints II, and A Nightmare on Elm Street.

The Road

Based on the novel by Cormac McCarthy (No Country for Old Men, All the Pretty Horses), The Road is a bleak tale set about a a father and son who struggle to survive in a post-apocalyptic America. They must travel to the coast, although they don’t know what, if anything, awaits them there. It stars Viggo Mortensen, Charlize Theron, Kodi McPhee, Robert Duvall, and Guy Pearce. It will be released in the U.S. on November 25th, 2009.

The Book of Eli

If you’re a sucker for all things post-apocalyptic, then you’d be pleased to hear about The Book of Eli. Starring Denzel Washington, the film tells of Eli, who guards a book that holds the key to saving humanity. Nasty guy and general despot Carnegie (Gary Oldman) seeks to possess said book. Cue action.

The Book of Eli hits theatres in the U.S. on January 15th, 2009.

Black Dynamite

He’s super cool and he know Kung Fu. Drives a $5,000 dollar car and wears $100 dollar suits. And when it comes to the ladies, he’s out of sight. A spoof of blaxploitation films of the 1970s, Black Dynamite will see a U.S. release on October 16, 2009.

The Boondock Saints II: All Saints Day

It’s been a long wait (a decade since the first film), and I’m extremely happy to see the return of my favourite Irish vigilantes, the fraternal twins Conner and Murphy MacManus. In Boondock Saints 2: All Saints Day, the twins, along with father Il Duce, are locked, loaded, and ready to hand out their own brand of justice. The saint are coming on October 30th, 2009.

A Nightmare on Elm Street

In the re-imagining of Wes Craven’s 1984 slasher, A Nightmare on Elm Street now sees Jackie Earle Haley playing the role of horror icon Freddy Krueger, and Freddy seems to have gotten a new make-up artist. Colour me skeptical. The film is produced by Michael Bay and is due to be released in the U.S, on April 30th, 2010.

*that is a blatant lie.
