Sibusiso Duma and The South African Crime Spree

What the what? 24-year old Sibusiso Duma has more than a few screws loose. News24.com reports that the man who is accused of six murders knocked down two of his victims and then reversed over them!

Duma is alleged to have kidnapped a 17-year-old girl, gang-raped her and repeatedly drove over her. If that wasn’t enough, he set her on fire. The woman was found in a cemetary and taken to hospital, she has since recovered.

Here’s the run-down of Duma’s crime spree:

  • Six murders
  • Four aggravated robberies
  • Four rapes
  • Two attempted murders
  • Three kidnappings

And get this – all these crimes were allegedly between September 9th and 24th, 2007! 16 days, 19 crimes – that must be a South African record!

His trial started yesterday in the Pietermaritzburg High Court and continues today.

This is horrible. :( People like that should just die… and suffer in hell for all eternity. Or suffer for a very long time and then die.

whats even more frightening is that he has been caught, which is good of course… but how many others like him are out there?

How many other like him are out there? We’ll probably never find out if the new police commissioner has his way. Cele supports the moratorium on issuing crime statistics because according to him, criminals use these statis.

“If you don’t release, it gives you the better edge to fight the crime”.

how on earth do criminals better their skills based on crime stats? effed in the head thinking.
i reckon its just to cover up the ineptitude of gov and the police commissioner (past & present)… no stats, no problem. mmm very similar to mbeki’s “what crisis” tactic.

same :poop: different president.

I thought that as well and of course with the World Cup around the corner, one doesn’t need to get international visitors even more paranoid about visiting.

I’m glad to see the poop smiley has finally come in good use ;-)

The DA are unhappy with Cele’s appointment as they reckon like Mbeki did with Selebi, the ANC is once again putting one of their comrades into a higher position.

I like this bit as well:

The Congress of the People (COPE) said there is cause for concern in the appointment of one who has no real experience in the Police Service to its most senior post.
