Best scary game was dead space by far followed by res 5 :)
My favourite horror video game series is probably Silent Hill 0__O
Resident evil one is my fav. That game… rocked my world.
Scary story? Nothing scary every happens to me, cause i am a fraidycat.
I don’t play many scary games but by far the scariest I’ve played has to be Dead Space followed by Bioshock.
Resident Evil 2, followed by Silent Hill.
I don’t know if I should say which was my favorite, or which one was the most effective.
Dead Space and Resident Evil 2 both nearly made me turn my pants brown on a few occasions. Even though it was more actioney, I have to say that Dead Space 2 was really, really enjoyable all the way (way better than the first one, which I couldn’t actually finish because it scared me too much).
The most scared I’ve ever been while playing a game though, was undoubtedly Clive Barker’s Undying. The first few hours of that game was MONSTROUSLY scary, It literally made my heart beat so hard that I could feel my chest moving wowzers.
Bonus Entry:
The scariest thing that’s ever happened to me (gaming related) was that mother f&%##@ moment in Resident Evil 2 when the licker jumped through two way mirror in the police interrogation room. I kakked so hard that I had to actually pause the game and go for a walk outside, take a swim… just get the hell away. I’ve never had something give me such a fright before… ever… not in gaming not in real life, those bastards suckered me in 10000%. BASTARDS LOL!
Afraid to play Res on 3DS because I might throw the handheld, I had better get a handstrap!
My scary story:
One night I decided to go make a late night cup of tea in the kitchen. In an attempt to not wake anybody I left most of the lights off except for the Kitchen light. While I was waiting for the water to boil I decided to check what was on TV which was in the lounge, a short stroll from the kitchen.
My brother who had arrived home late had thought it a good idea to hide behind a couch in the lounge in waiting for me (in the blackest of night) and jump out to give me the fright of my life. Needless to say I screamed like b!tch waking a good portion of the house in the process. Also I discovered that when you really really scared you literally freeze on the spot.
The older I get, the more it seems that I don’t have the stomach to handle horror games (or movies for that matter). Aside from being poop-scared, I’m also a very nervous shooter. If I’m not legging it away from the creatures, I’m emptying clips into every darkened corridor in the game.
@jGLZA I have a similar story to yours. Before I knew it wasn’t my kind of thing, I made the mistake of trying Dead Space. At night. With headphones on. Unbeknownst to me, the missus went to the facilities and when she returned, thought it would be a good idea to put her hand on my shoulder. I launched from the couch, the headphones got yanked out of the amplifier, and my yell set off the dogs.
One other time, I was playing God of War III and got to the part with the “sexy time” mini-game. At that very moment, my wife passed by the TV and decided to watch. I failed that mini-game twice. Never before have I been that horrified and embarrassed.
I’m loving the bonus entries! Awesome entries all.
Personally, I’ve always found Silent Hill more creepy than Resident Evil, but that’s just me, I guess. First time in my life being terrified of hearing radio static!! That wasn’t just me, right?
has to be Silent Hill 2
Good luck to ye all, i won’t be entering. don’t have a Nintendo… Sign…
Scariest game, ooooo I’m not sure who to acredit the scars to my soul to. So my 3 are Fear (PC), Resident Evil & Dead Space.
Bonus Entry.
Ok so it was high school and we were staying in muzenburg at the time.So this one friday the girl across the road says they leaving for the weekend. So being the mucho teen I was, I said, ‘would you like me to keep an eye on your place’. She replied saying,’nope, no need, my gran will be watching the place.’ Now I’ve been staying there a while and never seen her gran.So I asked if she’s staying the weekend to which she replied, that her gran has always stayed here. She explained that her gran died years ago but she haunt the place. I was so yeah right!! That night I stayed up late to watch a movie (no I won’t say which one, but a lady is arrested and then takes forever to cross her legs lol), before the part of the movie came on, I get the feeling to look across the street. In the window I saw what looked like a face.I convinced myself it was just the way the light was hitting the curtain. That worked right up until the head turned and looked right at me. I freaked and promptly went to bed. Scared as F@!!*#$
Resident Evil was damn freaky!
Phantasmagoria. i know its old and corny but it has a lot of sentimental value to me
Hannah Montana: The Movie – The game never before have I been so traumatised by a game. I havent played Xbox since (no jokes!)
okay so basically i was at my house and it was like 12am at night and i got up for sum reason so i went downstairs to get a drink and as i went downstairs i felt this real big chill come towards me, ignored it and carried on and got a glass and as i picked up the glass i saw this face in the reflection of it it was some sort of person who had a horrid disfigured face that looked like they had been burned alive so i turned around as quickly as possible and there was nothing there so i carefully went to my tap and i have this mirror on the wall above the tap and so i bent down to fill my glass up and as i got back up there it was again so i quickly ran upstairs locked my door and ran under he covers and all i could hear was a sort of clawing noise against the wall getting closer….and closer…i literally was up all night sitting looking at the door and the closet in my room just in case and i asked my mum about it and apparently there used to be a family who used to live in the house..we still get their letters but we don’t know where they live…or if their still alive……story or not,…..believe what you want to believe…..
My scariest moment in a game was actually playing the demo of re:revelations when the new scary looking zombies jump down from no where or sneak out from places it shook me so badly and the way they look kind of gave me the chills as well and now since i played that i so badly want the game.
Alright, so, I was home alone one night, and I heard footsteps from the floor above me. Now, mind you, I’m very skeptical of scary stories. So, when I heard this noise, I completely blew it off and forgot about it.
A few hours later, after watching a bunch of Doctor Who reruns, I decided to go upstairs to go to bed, forgetting the footsteps I heard. I started walking down the hallway, when I thought I heard somebody say behind me, “Run, little man.” Naturally, I panicked, and I locked my door.
My door opened, and I saw a guy standing there, but I couldn’t see his face. He walked up to me, got up all in my face and told me to go to bed.
The next morning, my dad seemed mad at me. That’s when I realized it was just my dad last night getting ready for work and I didn’t realize that he was home.
Contest First question entry: Favorite horror games are Haunting Ground, Silent Hill 1,2&3, Resident Evil and Siren.
Contest BONUS entry:
One of the scariest moments of my life was showering in my uncles swimming pool bathroom area. What happened was as I was showering about to get ready to dip myself in the pool, I took notice that something odd was crawling on my feet. It was a roach and I was like “Meh.. I’ll just stomp on it.” When I did that, shit just hit the fan when hundreds of roaches started coming out from the shower drainage hole. As a guy, I am not ashamed to say that I did screamed like a little girl. LOL! But yeah… it was bad and I have a phobia against roaches now.
Thanks for the entries! Some of them have been quite creepy indeed. The giveaway will end a minute before midnight and we’ll announce the winner tomorrow.
Incidentally, my cousin told me a story the other day. She was sleeping in her bed one night when she heard some heavy breathing. She quickly got up and switched on the lights. But no one (or thing) was there, not even under the bed. It happened again the next day, and not finding anything in the room, she bravely decided to check the passage. Torch in hand, she crept down the passage and found the source of the creepy noise…her dog. It was sleeping next to a vent that connected the passage and her room, and its snoring just travelled through the vent. I LOL’d.
for me the scariest game has to be Resident evil!!
and the scariest event…one night i was making myself some coffee alone and went to the bathroom, whn i returned there was a man in a white mask standing in the kitchen window and reaching for me! turns out it was my husband just trying to make me scream and wet my pants……. he succeeded
Silent hill! there isnt a creepeir game to put you on edge
and scariest moment ever……….. fetching water late at night and being to lazy switch on lights i basically did everything in the dark on my way back to my room, i saw a silhoutte of someone standing in the passage (in the dark) and immediately froze. i stopped breathing for a few seconds and just watched this shadow, but it froze as well, as i moved a bit forward i saw the shadow move as well….. then i realised i was seeing my reflection in the mirror NEXT to the passage. eventually once i realised this.. my heart started beating again… it was a weird trick in the moonlight.
needless to say, i always switch them lights on now
Scariest game I’ve played? Resident Evil: Zero. When I played that game a few years ago for the first time, I almost peed my pants in certain points of complete terror. Of course, I enjoyed the entire thing.
Scariest thing that’s happened to me? Once, me and my friend were walking through a cornfield, when we saw someone (or someTHING walking like he was dizzy). We just chuckled and walked back to my house. During the night, I looked out the window, and saw three scarecrows laying in my backyard, and I didn’t know what to think. The next morning, I was in the woods, and I saw a ripped apart scarecrow. After seeing this, I freaked out, and I got all of the other scarecrows, and buried them in the woods. Last month, 3 years later, the same thing’s started all over again. Maybe it’s just me? Anyway, that’s the scariest thing that’s ever happened to me.
Scariest game I’ve played was RE:R Demo. I was playing it with headphones, really on a roll, and my dog jumped up behind me and pounced on me. I thought that it was one of the Ooze for a second, and I freaked.
The scariest thing that ever happened to me was when I was in the car with my dad and a car hit our car. It wasn’t very pretty. When we got out, a huge truck came plowing down, slammed into both cars right into a power-line, shutting down the electricity for half of the town. The guy who crashed into my dad’s car, walked up to me (before he fled the scene) and told me not to say anything, or he’d find me and kill me. I did tell an officer what happened, and I lived in terror for 3 days that he would find me. Truly scary for me when I was 9 at the time.
Scariest game is Resident Evil 0.
Scariest thing that ever happened to me was seeing an old lady fall down a huge flight of stairs at my church. It was terrifying. She was crying, she kept calling her husband (who was dead),and when the ambulance came, she started screaming for help. It was truly terrifying.
Thank you once again for your entries. We have a winner, could it be you?
