Play This: Multitask

The aim of this game is to see if you have the skill to play multiple games simultaneously. Got it? I certainly didn’t and lasted a pitiful 58 seconds on my first attempt. I fail at life.

Play Multitask at Kongregate. Drop us a comment with your score.

Dix: A Short Film on Obsessive Compulsive Walking

Coming out the 36th Computer Animation Festival (SIGGRAPH 2009), a short film by the name of Dix was named as the Jury Award winner. Dix is a harrowing short film that explores the psychological state of Marc, an obsessive-compulsive who counts to ten as he steps onto paving stones. Marc relies heavily on the paving stones to get about – if he strays off the path, the consequences are dire to say the least.

Marc seeks help from Monsieur X to get over his phobia. See it below or watch it in HD at YouTube. Be warned, the film contains graphic scenes that may disturb sensitive viewers.

Dix was directed by a collective known as Bif.

Legion Red Band Trailer

OK, so the last time God lost faith in man, he sent a flood. This time around, in the upcoming Sony action/horror film Legion, God is a lot angrier and has decided to send his army of angels to bring on the apocalypse. Humanity’s only chance lies with a group of strangers trapped in a desert diner, and the Archangel Michael (Paul Bettany) who has been sent to earth to protect an unborn child.

The red band trailer that was shown at Comic Con earlier is now online, so see it below. Think CONSTANTINE, but no Keanu Reeves, and way, way more guns!

Legion is the directorial debut for Scott Stewart, founder of effects company The Orphanage. Alongside Paul Bettany, the cast includes Dennis Quaid, Kevin Durand, Kate Walsh, Tyrese Gibson, and Charles S. Dutton. It’s due for a U.S. release on January 22nd, 2010.

New Uses For Retro Cassette Tapes

Way back in the day, I had a hand-me-down Walkman. It was so very awesome until a friend of a friend stole it off me, along with a mix tape that I had made for a special lady friend. I never had any theft issues after that, the main reason being that my parents didn’t see fit to buy me another Walkman.

At one time cassette tapes were the cutting edge of personal music collections – during the mid 1980s, cassettes accounted for more than half of the worlds total music sales. With the coming of the digital age, the cassette has been replaced by CDs, MP3 players, playlists, and music libraries.

Instead of collecting dust in boxes, surely there must be alternate uses for humble cassette tape? Indeed there are. Find out after the jump.

Kid Plays Guitar Hero on Expert While Solving Two Rubik’s Cubes

This just blew my mind. I’ve seen people ride a unicycle while solving a Rubik’s cube, I’ve seen people juggle while solving a cube, I’ve seen some pretty ridiculous Rubik’s cube related feats, but this one almost made my head explode. Let’s break down what he’s doing:

  • He’s playing on Expert
  • He’s doing it in the reflection of a mirror
  • He’s strumming with his elbow
  • He’s solving two Rubik’s cubes after each other, with one hand.
  • He’s actually doing pretty well at Guitar hero (77%)

If that isn’t amazing, I don’t know what is. It would have been extra cool if he recited Pi while doing all of this.

Three Word Phrase: Five Minute Comics by Ryan Pequin

Ryan Pequin likes to work in short bursts, and Three Word Phrase is a series of comic strips that he draws in five minute sessions with no planning or ideas for jokes. They are pretty crude, but hilarious to a shallow mind like myself. Take a look at a few below. Click to embiggen.

Having started out Livejournal, the comics now have a new home; check them out at Three Word Phrase.
