Obama: Nobel Peace Prize winner

Sometime ago (I know it’s been “sometime” since I posted), I posted an opinion piece on South Africa denying the Dalai Lama a visa, and I was given a jolly good smack down by some arb. Anyway, after that incident I promised to stay away from politics and all that jazz, and I just know that my opinion on this matter should I post it,  will result in floods of comments that will make me feel…well kak to be honest. So this is just straight forward news. Barack Obama, president of the USA has been awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in recognition for “his extraordinary efforts to strengthen international diplomacy and cooperation between peoples” in particular, his outreach to the Muslim world and attempts to curb nuclear proliferation. ORLY?

As you see, I’m a chicken and not in the mood to stick my neck out but what do y’all think?

When it comes to laying down the insults, I’m as handy as a male stripper at a lesbian hen night. Movies, on the other hand, are chock-full with put-downs. From retards trying to fuck doornobs to smelly pirate hookers, TheShiznit compiled a list of the top 20 movie blow-offs. See them after jump.

Hitler: The Nollywood Movie

Oh my. Straight out of Nollywood comes the story of “simple” engineering student George, who falls with the wife of Hitler, a notorious gangster who rules the university campus. With tempers boiling over, the case soon becomes a flesh eaters’ affairs. Lol, wut? Have a look at the trailer.

Celine Dion, Hitler, cannibals, and cheesy sound effects. Don’t know about you, but I’m sold.

If You Printed The Internet

Reading can be such hell at times. Can you imagine the schlep of reading all the content on the internet? Doing it 24-7, 57 000 years would pass until you were finished complete. And if you were to print and bind the Internet into a book, it would weight 1.2 billion pounds. How do I know this? The Internet told me.

Find out all the mathematics in the neat infographics that lay after the jump.

Panda Bounce

Panda Bounce (or Boong Boong Panda) is a Breakout-type game where you need to collect the indicated quantities of fruit by bouncing a Panda bear around the level. You don’t directly control the Panda, rather the cute chipmunks that man the trampoline on the ground.

Click the Panda to get it on the trampoline, click again to launch it, and the move the mouse to position the trampoline. Don’t let the Panda touch the ground, oh and beware the ninjas.

Play Panda Bounce at Hangame.

Very Important Pixels (VIPs)

Belgian illustrator Kristof Saelen has a way with pixels, and in his “Very Important Pixels” set, it’s amazing how he manages to capture a person’s character with a few pixels. So far, his quirky pixel portraits include the Sopranos, Michael Jackson, Star Wars characters, James Bond, and my personal favourite, a set of 80s TV heroes. Have a look at them after the jump.

When Anime Fansubs Go Wrong

A bowl of pain rice. One of my most fond memories of holidaying in Thailand was the less-than-perfect translations in restaurant menus. As we travelled further from Bangkok, the translation got worse (and funnier as a result). I thought of those moments when I came across this gem of awesomeness.

With its root in the early 80s, a fansub is a version of an anime program that has been subtitled by fans, for fellow fans who do not understand Japanese. Not all translators are equal, and sometimes, when the translations go wrong, the results can be very amusing to say the least.

The Perfect Unison’s Wooden Headphones

I don’t usually keep wish lists, They are a sobering reminder of the amazing things out there that I can never afford to buy. If I were to have one, these headphones would certainly be at the top of the list. A headphone company by the name of The Perfect Unison got together with Dutch artist, Parra, to create a striking headphone design. Made out of nine layers of Finnish Birch Wood and silkscreen printed by Parra, only 50 of these beautiful wooden headphones were made. Have a look at the images after the jump.

The Improbable Movie Cards

When I was a kid I missed out on collecting trading cards, I was obviously too busy running into walls and eating mud. But if I were to do it now, I’d start with The Improbable Movie Cards. The folks over at Automatic Lifestyle Dispenser mocked up a set of 80’s style movie collector cards. The results are funny, if a little odd. I especially love the stickers. Have a look at some of them below.

See more here and a few more here.
