Apparently everyone is talking about Avatar. I obviously missed that memo. I really should fire my non-existent yet big bosomed secretary.
Written and directed by James Cameron (Terminator 2, Aliens, Titanic) Avatar has nothing in common with the animated series, “Avatar: The Last Airbender” – Cameron wrote the script a decade for the Nickelodeon show, and hence retained the right to use the word as his film’s title. After spending almost two full years in post-production, Avatar is supposedly one of the most technically sophisticated movies yet seen.
It sees a paraplegic war veteran (Sam Worthington) who gets shipped out to the planet of Pandora where the meddlesome humans at odds with the planet’s inhabitants, the long-limbed, elven-eared Na’vi race. See the epic trailer below or watch the special effects bonanza in HD at Apple Trailers.
Maybe it’s because I’m not drunk yet, but I feel a little underwhelmed. What do you think of it?

As I said on the PS3 forum, I hope there’s more to it. Yes I would definitely get it on Blu-ray just because of Cameron, but the hype surrounding and 2 years in post production, I dunno.
fingers crossed.
i must’ve been living under a rock, never came across this movie… every time i see the word avatar i think of the 360 nxe.
You and me both easy. I heard about it for the first time yesterday, but according to Google Trends, it’s a popular search item.
I’m sure it’s be an entertaining flick. I was slightly green after watching Ice Age in 3D, so I’d best bring a barf bag to Avatar
Im a tad disappointed. All the hype and the result so far seems to be more of the style of an in-game cinematic, as a friend of mine aptly described it.
That’s understandable – 60% of what you’ll see in the movie is CGI.
And speaking of game tie-ins, Avatar: The Game will also drop at the same time as the movie. Eurogamer previewed it with 3D glasses and a 103″ 3D television. Read their write-up.
Have to say, I’m also not very impressed. Visually it looks great, but it almost feels like most of the story was given away during the trailer. All that CGi wont mean any thing if the storyline is crap, IMO.
