Frank Sinatra and Notorious B.I.G. together would seem like an unlikely duo considering their styles of music but DJ Cappel and Smitty decided to blend Sinatra’s blues with Big Poppa’s rhymes. The mashups were bundled together into the album aptly titled “Blue Eyes Meets Bed Stuy.”
Here’s a couple of tracks taken off the album.
Hypnotize / Little Green Apples
Juicy / New York, New York
10 Crack Commandments / Fools Rush In
What did you think – did you find this quite awesome or a bit of a perversion? Or were you totally indifferent? Drop us a comment.

Dont care for it. Show the state of the music industry and talent. I mean I hear rehashing of tracks that came out 5 years ago. Maybe my age but man there is nothing original out there.
It’s not too bad but I hear what you’re saying. The same could be said for Hollywood.
True dat. Hollywood giving us reboots, re-imaginings, remakes. we’re living thru a slump at the moment, economic and entertainment wise.
A depressing thought. Someone should make a movie about that ;-)
i don’t care for ol’ blues eyes and i don’t care for notorious, both were wannabe gangsters with bigger ego’s than talent in my opinion.
but that aside, i actually like the tracks… maybe two wrongs do make a right
@macross, i don’t think age has much to do with the crap we listen to today. to find good music you need to trawl the net. there’s loads of incredible music out there, its just a shame that you wont hear it on the radio and definitely find it in the stores…
btw dj danger mouse did a fantastic job of mashing up the beatles

it was a free download at one point, not sure if its that way anymore
I heard about the Grey Album when I was searching out clips for this post. I’m not necessarily a fan of Jay Z, but I’ll give anything a listen.
Apparently DJ Danger Mouse sent out thousands of promo copies and then got served by EMI who own the copyrights. The album then got distributed over the intertubes, and Sony got involved. According to Illegal Art, they later dropped the case. So, it’s out there.
i’m not a fan of jay z either!
to be honest i’m not a fan of most rap/hip hop artists… its pretty mundane.
but there are a few gems out there, and the grey album was one of ’em… for me
easy, have you listened to Ugly Duckling? They don’t conform to the “guns, bitches, and bling” stereotype.
In their album Taste the Secret, they run a fast food chain that only serves meat-based food, and they’re competing against Briana from Veggie Hut.
Check out the song Meatshake at YouTube.
I love both artists but the tracks are just bland and stale, the only track that really works is the Juicy NY NY remix and even then that’s ruined by only using one verse. The best hip-hop mashup album for me is Kleptones’ ‘Yoshimi Battles The Hip Hop Robots’ which uses various vocals from 50 Cent and Public Enemy to The Pharcyde and Blackalicious over Flaming Lips tracks. That’s really worth downloading if you can find it. Peace.
