Bringing the Pain: Terrible Torture Instruments

I can safely say the only reason I don’t use torture devices today is because I’m not the all-conquering, merciless king I was in my past life. But if I were to get my lofty stature back, I’d stock my playroom with the most horrifying torture devices, you know, for parties or for storing the occasional uninvited guest.

Heretic’s Fork

One end of this forked device was pushed under the chin of the victim, the other into the sternum; the strap secured the torture tool to the neck. In somewhat of a pained state, the victim would have to say the Latin word “Abiuro” (I recant), lest they were hanged or burned at the stake.

Thumbscrew

This vice was used to crush fingers, toes, knees, and elbows. Simple and efficient – two words that should always be in a torturer’s vocabulary.

Lead Sprinkler

We have ways of making you talk. This device was filled with either molten lead, tar, boiling oil, or boiling water. The said contents were then dripped onto the stomach, back, and other body parts of the unfortunate victim.

More of my favourite terrifying torture devices lay in wait after the jump.

Breast Ripper

As its name implies, this device was used on the ladies considered heretics and adulterers, and ripped their breasts out. If this device were in use today, it would have trouble with the 38KKK fun bags of Sheyla Hershey.

The Rack

The rack was designed to dislocate every single joint in its victim’s body. The ankles and wrists of the unlucky person were bound to the device, and by turning various rollers, the body could be pulled in opposite directions.

Judas Chair

This Spanish invention is a personal favourite of mine. The Judas Chair would be used to split its victims in half. They were hoisted up by rope or chain and then made to sit on the pointed tip of the pyramid shaped device. Gravity and weights helped to create a rather painful, ass-ripping experience.

The Pear

Anyone in Medieval Europe who committed sodomy, adultery, incest, heresy, or blasphemy could count on having the Pear inserted into their mouth, rectum, or vagina. A screw mechanism then makes its pointed “leaves” expand whilst inside any of the intended orifices.

The Brazen Bull

Ancient Grecians spared no expense when it came to making torture as painful and brutal as possible. The Brazen Bull was made totally of brass, hollow inside with a a door to enter it. The criminals due for torture would be shut up in the bull and a fire would be started under it. The bull would get red hot causing the persons inside to to slowly roast to death (or to perfection if you were planning to eat after the execution.)

Truth be told, I only watched the first Saw movie. I was too frightened to watch the others. I wonder whether people who create torture devices (be it true devices like these or fictional ones from the movies) had fun designing them…?

Well, my take on it is that those people must have strong stomachs for this kinda thing.. although, having watched all the SAW movies to date.. I have a strong stomach watching it.. but I don’t think I have the ‘creativity’ to design torture devices..

I can’t see how those people didn’t have any fun.. sick individuals that they would be..
